    WW2 started when Germany invaded Poland, and when France and Britian declared war on Germany.

    On september 3, France, Britian and the countries of the Commonwealth declared war on Germany. They provided little help to Poland. They had a small French attack. (Britain and France) They had a blockade of Germany which it's goal was to damage the country's economy and effort

    On 17 September, after agreeing to drop all weapons in Japan the Soviets invaded Poland. Their territory was divided between Germany and the Soviet Union. Lituania and Sloviakia also had some parts of it. The Poles did not surrender but they established a Polish Underground State that has and underground Army. They continued to fight with Allies on all sides of Poland.

    Germany made an alliance with Italy called the axis alliance. While working together they conquered continental europe. The U.K was the only source that was fighting against the axis, they did battles in north america and the battle of atlantic against the axis alliance.

    On 22 June 1941 Germany other European Axis members, and Finland, invaded the Soviet Union in a thing called Operation Barbarossa. The targets of this surprise offense were the Baltic region, Moscow and Ukraine, that had a = goal of ending the 1941 campaign near the Arkhangelsk-Astrakhan line which connected the Caspian and the White Seas. Hitler's ideas were to eliminate the Soviet Union.

    In July the Japanese invaded the USSR and were doing the Battle of Lake Khasan. The soviet union won and were going to move them out of their place so the jananese could have that land.

    In early May 1942, Japan got their army to capture Port Moresby by assault and sever communications with supply lines between the U.S and Australia. The Allies, prevented the invasion by intercepting and defeating the Japanese forces in the Battle of the Coral Sea. Japan's next plan, was to seize Midway Atoll and bring American carriers into battle to be eliminated.

    This battle was 6 months after the attack at Pearl Harbor. The U.S navy defeated the Japanese Navy attack against Midway poll. there was irreparable damage on the Japanese fleet. The japanese wanted to eliminate the U.S but that didn't happen. They wanted to trap the U.S' airplanes in a trap and occupy Midway but U.S was too good of a coder. American codebreakers were able to determine the date and location of the attack, which abled them to ambush the japanese

  • Allies gaining preperation

    In the Soviet Union the Germans and the Soviets spent the spring and early summer making preparations for large battles in Central Russia. On 4 July 1943, Germany attacked Soviet forces around the Kursk Bulge. In week, German army had to defend themselves, while Hitler cancelled the operation before it had even successeded.

    This was launched July 9, which was combined with Italian fails whilch ,resulted in the arrest of Mussolini later that month. Western allies were the ones that attacked Sicily
  • Soviets launched offensives

    On 12 July 1943, the Soviets launched their offensives which lost all hopes from the German Army wanting victory. The Soviet victory at Kursk was a big downfall of German superiority, which gave the Soviet Union the initiative on the Eastern Front. The Germans attempted to even out their eastern front along the Panther-Wotan line, but the Soviets broke through it at Smolensk.
  • Western Allies close in

    After three years pressure from the Soviet the Western Allies invaded northern France. They also attacked southern France. These attacks were successful, and led to the defeat of the German Army in France. Western Allies continued to push back German forces in Western Europe during the later part of the year. There was an attempt to advance into northern Germany by an airborne operation in the Netherlands but it failed.

    Soviet and Polish troops captured Berlin and the German Troops surrendered in 1939 on May 8th. This war ended in Europe. The U.S bombed Japan in August as Japan was going to invade the U.S at any moment. The Soviet Union declared war on Japan, after invading Manchuria. The Empire of Japan surrendered on 15 August 1945, which ended the war in Asia.
