    Hitler got himself the votes by stirring up the distaste that Germans held for the Treaty of Versailles, what it did to Germany, and to their German pride. Once he got his power, Hitler began to realized he wanted and needed to restore Germany's status in Europe. Hitler becoming Chansellor of Germany had a great impact with WW2 coming into affect. It was his plan to attack the Polish which ultimately started WW2.

    The German forces bombard Poland land with air then land forces, taking most of their land within a short period of time. Germany has just started the beginning of World War Two. Although Canada has nothing to do with this huge event at this time, it sparks a fire within Britain and soon after,

    Canada declares war on Germany
    Due to Canada's united support with Britain and France it was likely that they would participate in the war against Germany. They do soon after Britain and France declare war on Germany. With the declaration of war against Germany with now a third party, it intensifies the severity of the war.
  • German Pilots Attack Britain

    German Pilots Attack Britain
    German pilots make many coordinated attack runs and bombing runs in Great Britain. This was an attempt for Germany to gain air superiority over England. The attack isn't too significant at this point but it gives Britain a motive to have a counter attack against them. This didn't have much to do with Canada but, since Britain is so closely tied with Canada, Canada obviously at least took notice.
  • British attack on Italians in North Africa

    British attack on Italians in North Africa
    British and Commonwealth forces attack Italian forces. Overnight, British battleships attack Italian positions at Valona in support of the Greek advances. From Italy being allied with Germany it makes them a target as well. This is of significance due to the fact that this is the continuation of the domino effect.

    The Japanese army bombed the U.S. warships to eliminate a possible threat from the war. By this act of war towards the U.S. it sparked a fire which wasn't there before, bringing forth the U.S. troops into war. This bombing being so close to Canada caused some panic due to the fact that they didn't know the intentions of Japan.
  • Hitler takes command of the German army

    Hitler takes command of the German army
    Adolf Hitler takes the position of the commander in chief of the German army. With the change of a new commander in chief comes, usually, new tactics for the troops to learn. Especially when someone like Hitler takes the command. This change is significant in the fact of how the German troops are being trained, they aren't as prepared and when preparing, in harsher circumstances. This will have an impact on everyone, including Canada, when they cross paths in war.

    Holocaust
    Millions Jews were sent to concentration camps to be tortured and killed. Hitler wanted to kill the Jews because he wanted the superior race to be the German Nazis. Some of the captives from the camps got away and fled to different countries, one of which being Canada. Though they weren't very welcoming to them seeing only 5,000 of them were able to take refuge there. This impacted many people around the world and still do this present day.

    D-Day
    General Dwight Eisenhower led U.S. and Allied troops in the invasion of Normandy, France. This invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning. The attack affected many people, Canada being one of the lead attackers. Though affecting many people, it was positive towards all the people on the allied countries, because they defeated the Germans.
  • Hitler's Suicide

    Hitler's Suicide
    Hitler and his wife both committed suicide in a bunker that they stayed for the last 40 hours of their life. Hitler shot himself with his pistol while his wife ingested cyanide. The news was a worldwide blowup. Some people were beyond relieved of his death, while the rest of the population was infuriated, wanting him arrested and then executed by the law.

    V.E. Day
    The Nazis official surrender from WWII. This was a much celebrated day because of the end of WWII. This was celebrated worldwide discluding the countries allied with Germany. A very victorious day for the Allied troops, Canada amongst them.
