Germans start concentration camps. Nazi Police would arrest people and say they were going to ‘Preventive Detention’. These camps started as labor camps but soon became death camps and the Nazis expanded their power to selectively kill entire groups of people. -

Euthanasia Program
Hitler signed an order to kill all children under the age of 5 that showed signs of mental or physical disabilities.It was so successful that it was expanded the older teens and adults. Hitler eventually was killing everyone with a disabilities. About 200,000 people died in this program. -
Rosie The Riveter
Rosie was introduced in 1940 to convince women that they could work in factories and help the men win the war. She had her own story about how her boyfriend was in the army and that she wanted to help us win the war. -
Tuskegee Flyer
At first none of the pilots wanted to be protected by the Tuskegee Flyers because of their race. Later the Tuskegee Flyers became the best group for protecting the planes because the never left formation and they had a 100% success rate. -
Hitler Invades Russia
Hitler invades Russia but he is not expecting for the civilians to stand up and fight. 85,000 Germans died in 6 weeks. -
War Bonds Start Being Issued
In 1941 people had jobs and money but they could not buy anything. Companies were now making goods for war so you could get a war bond which you would ‘lend’ the government money and they would pay you back after the war. -
Attack On Pearl Harbor
A day that will live in infamy. On this day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor from the air with Kamikazee or suicide attacks. They killed many soldiers and sunk many ships. -
Asked to Declare War On Japan
Franklin Delano Roosevelt asks Congress to declare war on Japan. This meeting was when he convinced them that we are already in the war at this point so why not fight? -
Philippines Taken Over By Japan
Japan starts the invasion on the Philippines. This was 10 hours after Pearl Harbor. Japan then held control of the Philippines from 1942 to 1945. -
Germany and Italy declare war on the US
Germany and Italy declare war on the United States. We declared war on their Ally so it was expected that they declare war on us it was just a matter of time. -
Navajo Code Talkers
Navajo code talkers are introduced. This is new for the United States and it is good for them because unless you are part of a tribe, or have studied their language you could not figure it out. -
Wannsee Conference
Nazi officials met to discuss the Jewish Question. They agreed the wipeout of Jews was necessary, but expensive. They discuss a Final Solution, but never used the words death camps. -
Japanese Internment Camps
Camps had no running water and they were dirty and in deserts. Japanese families lost all of their previous belongings. They each got one bag and everything else was taken by the government. Their american rights were violated and no one cared. -
Bataan Death March Starts
The transfer from Saisai Pt. and Mariveles to Camp O'Donnell by the Japanese Army of 60,000 to 80,000 Filipino and American POWs. -

The Warsaw ghetto was an uprising against the Nazis from the Jews. I lasted a few days then was controlled but it came as a surprise to the germans. -
War Refugee Board
In just a matter of months Roosevelt allowed over 200,000 Jewish refugees into the U.S. This was called the Jewish refugee board. One of the Jews that was let in was Albert Einstein. -
Korematsu v. The U.S goes to Supreme Court
Frank Korematsu sued the United States for violating his rights. He lost but in 1944 the case went to the supreme court and was appealed. -
D-Day
Operation Overlord was the largest sea, land and air attack EVER! It was the day the the US took over the beaches of Normandy, Germany. -
Yalta Conference
President Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Stalin agreed to split Germany into 4 occupied zones, allowing them free elections when they were ready. They also agreed to allow China one of the zones. -
Hitler Commits Suicide
Hitler and his wife commit suicide. They took cyanide pills and went out before they could be tried for war crimes. Before Hitler took the pill he ‘tested’ it on his dogs and killed them too. -
V-E Day
V-E day means victory in Europe the day that Europe unconditionally surrendered their military and were taken over by allies. -
Hiroshima
On August 6, 1945 the United States of America dropped an Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. As soon as this bomb hit instant destruction took place. -
Nagasaki
Three days after the United States bombed Hiroshima, Japan they dropped another Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. This was a huge impact named Fat Boy the bomb lived up to its name. -
Hirohito surrenders
Hirohito and Japan unconditionally surrender. They have to give up their military forever and the United States would then agree to be Japan's new military.
