  • Japan invades China

    Japan invades China
    On the night of July 7, 1937, Chinese and Japanese troops exchanged fire in the vicinity of the Lugou bridge. It began as a fight but soon escalated into a battle, in which Beijing fell to Japanese forces. This battling is known as the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Chiang Kai-shek moved the central government's army and air force, placed them under his direct command, and attacked Japanese Marines in Shanghai Force. The Japanese had over 200,000 troops.

    Munich Agreement
    Munich Agreement was a settlement giving Germany portions of Czechoslovakia along the country's borders mainly inhabited by German speakers. The agreement was negotiated at a conference held in Munich, Germany, among the major powers of Europe, without the presence of Czechoslovakia. The purpose of the conference was to discuss the future of the Sudetenland. The agreement was signed by Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy

    Non- aggression Pact was signed in Moscow in the late hours of 23 August 1939. The pact's intentions were a guarantee of non-belligerence.     Operation Barbarossa beginning 22 June 1941, was the name for Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II. Over the course of the operation, about four million soldiers of the Axis powers invaded the USSR along the front, making it the largest invasion in the history of warfare. The German invasion of the Soviet Union caused a high rate of fatalities: 95 percent of all German Army casualties that occurred from 1941 to 1944, and 65 percent of all Allied military casualties.

    The Wannsee Conference was a meeting of officials from Germany, held in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee. The purpose of the conference was to ensure the cooperation of the leaders of various government departments in the final solution to the Jewish population. In the course of the meeting, it was explained how the Jews would be rounded up from west to east and sent to extermination where they would be killed.

    The Bataan Death March, was a march by the Japanese Army with Filipino and American prisoners of war after the three-month Battle of Bataan in the Philippines during World War II. The march went from Mariveles, Bataan, to San Fernando, Pampanga. From San Fernando, survivors were loaded to a box train and were brought to Camp O'Donnell in Capas, Tarlac.

Available troops of the Soviets were sent to the east bank of the Volga, some from as far away as Siberia. Fighting on and around a prominent hill above the city, was particularly merciless; indeed, the position changed hands many times.

    D-Day served as landing operations for the Allied powers. Germany had capture thef French Republic. It is known as the largest seaborne operation in history. The assualt begun the invasion on the Germany and led to the restoration of the French Repulbic.

    Battle of the Bulge was a German plan created by Hitler to recapture the habour of Antwep. The surprise attack led to the killing of over 90,000 Allied forces. The Allied forces then regrouped and won the battle.

    Battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle, which the US captured the Island from Japan. The fight was the fiercest and bloodiest battle in the War on Pacific. 18,844 Japanese soldiers were killed by American troops.

    The battle was fought on the the Ryukyu Islands in the Pacific. Island Hopping was introduced during this time. The battling lasted 82 days. The US Army and Navy led an invasion on Japanese forces. More than 110,000 Japanese soldiers were killed during the assualt.

    VE Day is a national holiday. It represents the end of WWII in Europe. It occureed after the Nazi Party surrendered. Therefore, Germany was defeated. Hitler, the violent leader, of the Nazi Party commited suicide days before.

    On August 6 and 9, two atomic bombs were dropped on the cities oh Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Between 129,000 and 246,000 were killed in relations of the bombing. Days later, the Japanese surrenderd.
