  • Japanese Invasion of China

    Japanese Invasion of China
    This lead to the Sino-Japanese War going from 1937 to 1945. The reason they invaded in the first play was because China was agains the expansion of Japan's influence on it's territory. In the end of the war Japan gave up on the war with China because they had already suffered the loss from the Allies.
  • Germany's Invasion of Poland

    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    This invasion was lead by Germany to gain control of Poland. They wanted this land because they knew it would give them and advantage in the war, which it did when they finally won over Poland,
  • German Blitzkrieg

    German Blitzkrieg
    Blitzkreig Translated to "lighting war" in English, was a method of warfare used by Germans meant to suprise the enemy and quickly dispose of them. They used this to quickly win battles and gain control. The effect of this was different in various cases, in some cases it worked out resulting in the Germans victory and other times in didn't work out for them, but rather weakened them and benefitted the oposing side.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    This was was the largest invasion of warfare lead by Nazi Germany into the Soviet Union. Germany did this to conquer the important economic areas in the Soviet Union. This did lead to the victory of the Germans at first, however they were pushed back by The Red Army. This also opened up the Eastern Front which had some of the largest battles in history.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    This was where Japan suprise attaked the US. They did this as a preventive action, they didn't want the US to interfere with their military actions. This ended up with Japan not losing much but the US losing quite a lot. This also was the reason for the US to join the war.

    The meeting of gernman officials, This happened to ensure the cooperation of different leaders of different governments.The result of this was the jews being legally discriminated and being sent to concentration camps.
  • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah
    This operation was an attack on Hamburg Germany that caused a one of the largest firestorms raised by the Royal Airforce. This was because of (according to this) was to weaken Germany and to turn the tables from them bombing britian. This caused tens of thousands of civillians to die.
  • D-Day (Normandy Invasion)

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    This invasion was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The reason why Normandy was invaded was to free it from Nazi control. This ended up in the Allies win eventually at the 12th of June.
  • Battle Of the Bulge

    Battle Of the Bulge
    This was a major German offensive attack through the forests of Ardennes, that ended up in the loss of a lot of German personnel. The Germans did this to in hopes to catch the Americans off guard and shorten their personnel. This resulted in, as mentioned before,the loss of German personnel.

    A plan to attack Berlin which was rejected. It was rejected because it wasn't to likely to succeed, therfore there was no effect from this.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    During the battle of Iwo Jima the mission for the U.S was to seize the Japanese air fields by sending 110,000 American soldiers into the island. These men had to face 20,000 Japanese soldiers. This battle was very harsh, due to the volcanic ash that the island had, and all the open land which gave the defending Japanese a slight advantage. Even though the Japanese had an advantage, the number of attacking U.S soldiers played a huge role in the victory of the U.S.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    The Battle of Okinawa was the bloodiest battle of the entire Pacific campaign. A total of 287,000 U.S troops were to face 130,000 Japanese soldiers. The purpose of the battle was to invade Japan so that the area would fall under allied control. The U.S was successful in this invasion and ended the battle on June 21st 1945.

    VE Day is the day that the Germans in Europe finally surrendered. A big reason why this happened was because the soviets started to take many Nazis prisoner. So the Nazis in Europe decided to surrender instead. This had a huge impact on the other Nazis around the world and soon after they all surrendered.

    The Dropping of The Atomic Bombs
    The dropping of both atomic bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima were very tragic. The dropping of the bombs were a very hard decision to make for the U.S. The reason for the bombs were because Japan was very hostile and had 2 million troops on very well defended islands. So the U.S decided to take out the Japanese islands by dropping the bombs.

    VJ Day was an amzing time in history because the Japanese had surrendered. This means that the war was finally over. They had surrendered after the dropping of the atomic bombs because after that no one would want to fight.
