    Japan bombs Pearl Harbor
    When Japan Boms Pearl Harbor, It critically damages the U.S. Navy and Airforce. That causes America to have to rebuild its navy and airforce before they are able to counterattack, and join the war. This event is important because it is a big reason why America first joins the war.

    By the spring of 1942, Japan occupies almost every island in over 4500 miles of Pacific Ocean. For the United States to fight the Pacific war, theydeveloped an "island hopping" stragety where they would attack the least defended islands, and by doing that, conserve resources.

    America Bombs Japan, and shows them how affective their bombs are. Lieurenant General James Doolittle leads U.S. plains to bomb the Japanese capital of Tokyo, and several other key cities. The bombs weighed 500 pounds.

    The allies all worked together to storm the beaches of Normandy which Germany had well-defended. The allies sent 150,000 soldiers, 1,500 tanks, 5,300 ships, and 12,000 aircraft for the attack. it was difficult to maneuver, and the Germans had the advantage of height, but it was still conquered by the allies. This event was important, because it was the first step to defeating Germany.

    The Battle of the Bulge
    The Germans tried a last ditch effort to break through the Allied ligns, and gain an advantage. They attacked Them where their forces were weaker, and created a big bulge in the Allied line. The outnumbered american troups held the Germans off for eight days, then reinforcements arrived. This was important, because this battle prevented the tide of war from turning in favor of the Germans.

    Battle of Jima
    America neededan airbase to launch air raids on Japan from, so they decided to capture the 4 mile by 2 mile volcanic island of Iwo Jima. It had 1500 caves, which the Japanese could hide in, and they were able to hold off the american troups for over 4 weeks. 22,000 of the Japanese soldiers died, and 5,300 Americans died at the end. This battle was important because it won Americans another airbaase from which they could launch bombing raids.
  • HItler Dies

    When Hitler realizes that he was defeated, he marries his long-time lover, and commits scuicide a few hours later. This is iimportant, because it is almost the end of the war, and Germany's leader was now dead.

    Hitler's succesor signs a document declaring Germany's unconditional surender to the Allies. this is important, because it marks the end of the war with germany.
