    German forces invade France through the Ardennes forest in nothern France. Using Blitzkrieg tatics France falls at the end of June.

    Hitler wanted to cripple the UK so he sent bombing campaigns to many cities. Using British radar technology the UK was able to hold off German forces.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Soviet Union was invaded by Germany breaking the Non-Agression Pact between the two countries. Hitler wanted Russia for resources and slave labor Russia was unprepared at the time causing Germany to win many battles before the Russian winter set in.

    Japan airforce attacks Pearl harbor. Destroyed many battleships and killed many Americans. This propelled America into World War II

    Japan was trying to draw the U.S naval fleet into open waters to destroy them. However, the United States broke the Japanese code and were able to prevent this attack by sinking 4 Japanesse carriers while the U.S only lost one.

    Germans wanted control of major industrial city of Stalingrad. High casualties for both sides. 250,000 Axis troops are trapped, about 200,000 die. Soviet Union loses 100,100,000, but Soviets won.

    This was Americas first offensive in the war on the pacific. The marines launched a surprise attack in ghe Solomon islands. This battle proved that the Japanese were ruthless and unwilling to surrender.

    Bloodiest battle in the Pacific because the United States was getting closer to mainland Japan. This was a tough win for the U.S but with this victory the question came into play wheter we should drop the atomic bomb or invade Japan.
