    Churchill becomes prime minister
    Former Prime Minister, Chamberlain, lost the support of many British citizens after he was unable to keep Germany from invasion and war, therefore he was replaced by Churchill

    The Germans had defeated France and were left to invade Britain, however before they could do that they needed to destroy Britains Air force in order to prepare for invasion. The Battle was planned out so that the Germans would bomb any major airports and airplane runways.

    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union, thsi was significant as it marked a turn in the war. By having Germany conquer Russia, it showed the potential than they had to occupy all of Europe.

    On the 7th of December, 1941 thr Japanese bombed pearl harbor killing almost 2,500 people. When the Japanese Bombed Pearl Harbor it immediatly engaged the US in the war, as opposed to the isolationism that they were taking to before hand.

    The invasion of Sicily was a huge airborne operation which had the Allied of World War II claim Sicily from Italy and Nazi Germany. This later gave way to the full invasion of Italy.

    D-Day took place on the 6th of June in 1944, which was the invasion of Normandy by the Allied powers. This turned the war around, and gave way to the victory for the Allies.
