Japanese invasion of China
On July 7, 1937, there was a clash between Chinese and Japanese forces. Japan decided to launch and undeclared attack on China that would start of a war between Japan and China. They did so, because Japan declared that it would stop the flow of communism from Russia that was flowing into China. -
Rape of Nanking
In December of 1937, Japanese soldiers walked into China's capital of Nanking and started to kill 300,000 people of the 600,000. After all the Soldiers were killed by the Japanese, the soldiers turned there attention to the Women and proceeded to do as the Name of this Event suggest. -
Germany's invasion of Poland
On September 1st, 1939, Germany suddenly attack Poland. Within weeks of Germanies attack on Poland, Polands army had been defeated. Two days after the attack on Poland, England and France declared was on Germany. -

German Blitzkrieg (1939-1940)
During World War 2, Germany used a tactic that was suppose to go agaisnt that of trench warfare. This tactic was called Blitzkrieg, or "lightning war". It was mostly used from the attack on Poland in September 1st, 1939, to a time in March of 1940. -
Operation Barbarossa
On June 22, 1941, Hitler launched a massive attack on Soviet that was called Operation Barbarossa. Though it failed and it was because of this failure that led to Germany fighting a two front war. -
Pearl Harbor
On December 7th, 1941, Japanese forces launched a suprise attact on a navel port that was located in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The Japanese were able to destroy nearly 20 ships and nearly 2000 American Soldiers died. -
Wannsee Conference
On January 20th, 1942, 15 high ranking officials in Germany gathered to discuss how they would handle Jewish people. They decided on a code name for the physical annihilation of European Jews. The code name was called the Final Solution. -
Operation Gomorrah
Operation Gomorrah was a joint operation that was launched by England and America. America would bomb Germany by day, while Britian would bomb them at night. -
D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
During the battle of Normandy which lasted from June 1944, to August 1944. It was due to this battle that freed Western Europe from the control of the axis poers. -
Battle of the Bulge
In this battle, the Germans threw over 250,00o soldiers at the allies in order to push them back to the west towards Belgium. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
thousands of American go and attack an island called Iwo Jima that had over 23,000 Japanese soldiers on it. -
Battle of Okinawa
The last and one of the biggest battles in the Pacific theatre. This battle required over 280,000 American soldiers, and 130,000 Japanese soldiers. -
VE Day
This day represents the day that there was victory in Europe. This is the day where German soldiers laid down there arms and surrendered to the allied forces. -
Dropping of the atomic bombs
The United States became the only country to use an atomic weapon during a war. It was through the dropping of the two atomic bombs that ended World War 2. -
VJ Day
On August 14, 1945, it was announced that the Japanese had surrendered unconditionaly to the allied powers. -
Operation Thunderclap
This operation was designed in order to destroy whatever was left of German moral. They were going to do this by bombing major cities.
