Bell Aircraft
Bell Aircraft was created in 1935. Its first military contract was made in 1937. This contract allowed Bell Aircraft to make more money because the military would then buy a lot of planes. Thisn would be beneficial by letting the US buy planes for a discount for the war. -
Carl Vinson
Carl Vinson was a democrat represenatative from georgia from 1914 to 1965. He was most known for his devotation to the Marines and the Navy. He passed multiple acts while in office. One of them is the Naval Act of 1938. This would benefit the allied powers by having a strong navy and marine corps. -
World War 2 start in Europe
World War 2 started when Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland. This sparked the war because two days later England and France declared war on Germany. That event, in turn, started the period were countries statrt teaming up and declaring war so they don't lose. The major Allied Powers at the beginning of the war were England and France. The Axis Powers were Germany, Italy, Soviet Union, and Japan. -
Savannah Shipyard
The Savannah Shipyard made a contarct with the Souteastern Shipbuilding Corporation. The were supposed to make 36 ships. Intead, they ended up building 88 ships. This helped the allied powers by being able to ship more goods and be able to out number enemy ships. -
Holocaust
HolocaustThe Holocaust was a very tramatic event where nearly 11 mllion people died. These people were people that Hitler blammed the worlds problems on. They were gays, gypsies, disabled people and jews. In the holocaust Nazis would force people to work in hard conditions with little food or water. -
Brunswick Shipyard
Brunswick was picked to make ships in order to aid the Allies during the war. During the war, Brunswick produced 99 ships. 85 of them being liberty ships. It took 16,000 workers to accomplish this task. This would be helpful because it allowed the allis to recieve a lot of aid, military advantages, and it put americans to work. -
Lend-Lease Program
The Lend-Lease program was a very important program for World War 2. It was created to help the Allied Powers. It helped the allied powers by having the United States send Food, Oil, and Materail to its Allies. -
Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor was one of the biggest attacks that happened on United States soil. It happened when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii due to the US cutting off oil to Japan. This action caused japan to attack the US toallow them to have better chance to conquer the oil rich islands of the Pacific. -
D-Day
D-DayD-day was one of the largest invasions ever. It was when the United States, Great Britain and France invaded France. They invaded france due to germany conquering france earlier in the war. Thousands of men stormed the beaches of Normandy in Operation Overlord. -
Yalta Conference
The Yalta Conference also called the Crimea Conference was a meeting between the big 3. The big 3 were FDR, Churchill and Stalin. They had this meeting to discuss the re-organization of Europe. THis meeting was one of three meetings between the big 3. -
United Nations Creation
The UNited NAtions was created to increase international cooperation. It was also made to replace the ineffective League of Nations. An important thing that the United Nations has done is create Israel. -
Hitler's Death
Hitler was believed to die by a gunshot wound. We don't know exactly how he died because after his and his wife's death they were burned. Hitler did this because his army was on the verge of defeat and he didn't want to be executed. -
Bomb Dropped on Hiroshima
On August 6, 1945 the United States dropped an atomic bomb named little boy on Hiroshima. It killed at 90,000-146,000 people. Months ater the explosion a lot of people died of radiation, burns, and other injuries. Six days after the bombing JApan surrendered. -
Bomb Dropped on Nagasaki
On August 9, 1945 the United States dropped an atomic bomb called Fat Man on Nagasaki. THis was 3 days after the bombing of Hiroshima. The deathes from the bomb at Nagasaki were between 39,000 and 80,000 people. -
Richard Russell
Richard Russell was a Senator, Governor, and he was in the state legislature. He helped the war efforts in many ways. Those ways include maintaining 15 military instalations,more than 25 research facilities, and he strived to increase national defense.
