On July 7,1937 clash ocurred betweeen Japana and China. China had some help from Germany when thy were fighting Japan.Japanese forces were diverted to southeast Asia and to the Pacific theatre of WW2. Japan planted abomb in the Marco Polo bridge.China wasnt as developed as Japan so they couldnt repel againts them. The effect that this caused was that Japan withdrew from the League of Nations.This also sparked the begginin of WW2. -
Germany's Invasion of Poland
On this day about 1.5 million Germans troops invaded all of Polands border. U-boats attacked Polish naval forces in the Baltic sea.On Spetember 3,Poland declared war on Germany.HThis happended because Hitler claiimed this was a defensive act but France and Britain were not convinced.The effect it caused was that Poland declared war agints Germany. -

It was the first phase of World war 2 in Europe.Germany wanted to avoid a long war.Germany overran most of europe in 2 years and all this was thanks to the tactics of "Blitskrieg"(lightning war). These tactics were required the concentration of offensive weapons. This would trick the enemy's helping the Germans encircle them and help them.They did these because they wanted to overrule Europe and they did. Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American base at Pearl harbor,Hawaii.The japanese nearly destroyed 20 naval bases.The attack was a surprise to the United States.The Japanese wanted the United States to be weakend and that would only happen if they weakened their naval forces.They knew if they just ttacked United States would ratiliate so they hit the Naval bases so they wouldnt reatiliate as quick. The effect it had was that the next day president Roosevelt declared war on China -
Battle of Iwo Jima
About 74,000 Americans Marines landed on this island. Even thought his island is small thye took a long time to take down the Japanese fighters because of of all the mountains.The japanese had built in cavesinside the mountain and tunnels and the marines took some time to find them. This happened in response to what happened at pearl harbor. In the end about 7,000marines and about 21,000 Jaoanese fighting soldiers layed dead. -
battle of Okinawa
This battle involved about 287,000 troops of the U.S. On "Special attack" the Japanese used kamikaze tactics. Although they were not especially sophisticated. A series of defense lines across the island, both north and south of the American landing beaches, enabled the Japanese to conduct a fierce defense of Okinawa over many weeks. Bcause of this attack almost 100,000 Japanese civilian and soldiers died. -
VE Day
On this day the United States and Great Britain clebretated because that was the day that Nazi soldiers put down their guns and were defeated. German troops throughout Europe finally laid down their arms: In Prague, Germans surrendered to their Soviet antagonists, after the latter had lost more than 8,000 soldiers, and the Germans considerably more; in Copenhagen and Oslo; at Karlshorst, near Berlin; in northern Latvia. This turned out to be a very succesful day for the U.S and Great Britain. -

D-Day
On this day about 156,000 Americans,British,and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50 mile stretch of heavily fortfiled coast of Frances Normandy region. This invasion is one of the largesrt invasions of history. The places that the Nazi's had teken over were beggining to loiberate so they attacked them. The result of this was that alot of them were lost that day and by the end of this the American,British and canadian troops had done everything and they were succesful.
