    Adolf Hitler violated Treaty of Versailles by sending his military. This is one of the four main causes of World War II.
  • German invasion of Poland

    Germany attacked Poland, and Poland was later taken control of by Germany because France and Britian provided little help. France and Britian had pacts with Poland they declared war on Germany (World War 2 begins).
  • Battle of Britain

    The British defeated the enemy German Air Force with their Royal Air Force. This was a turning point in the war because Germany could no longer invade Britain with ground troops. It also showed Germany that they too had a strong Air Force.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    This was known as Hitlers attempt to invade the Soviet Union. This invasion was a big mistake for Hitler because he lost many troops, equipment, and etc along with the battle. He had underestimated the capability of the Russian people and his mistake was known as another turning point.

    Pearl Harbor was the Japanese bombing on the American Naval Fleight. Pearl Harbor is also what brought America into the war and away from their isolationism.

    This was the U.S. surrender of the Bataan Peninsula to Japanese forces. Approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops were forced to march to prison camps.

    The U.S. defeated Japan in an air and sea battle. The U.S. countered Japan's attack plans and ambushed them. This was an importsnt win for the Allies and also raised morale.

    D-Day started on June 6, 1944, when about 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France's Normandy region. They later defeated the Germans after a very intense battle.

    In 1945, America dropped two atomic bombings against the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. These two events are the only use of nuclear weapons in the history of war. The Japenese later surrendered.
