    Germany invasdes Poland and kick-starts the world war.

    This is also known as the Blockade of Leningrad. This was a massivle blockade on the Eastern front undertaken by German soldiers.

    The japanese decide to attempt to scare America away from the war by bombing Pearl Harbor. This fails ,however, when it unites Americans and we join the war shortly after.

    General McCarther was forced to leave about 10,000 American troops to surrender. He promised he would return to rescue them and he eventually did.
  • Battle of the Coral Sea

    This was a massive naval battle in which the United States was defending Australia from Japan.

    Japan tried to trick the United States Navy into a trap, but luckily enough we had broke their code and knew of their plan. This gave us the upper hand and we won sinking 4 of there aircraft carriers while they only got 1 of ours.

    This was the first big offensive battle for the U.S in the pacific. This was an important fight because it showed us very clearly how the Japanese had no mercy and would fight till death.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    This was a massive battle on the Eastern front fought between the Soviets and the Nazis. This was an intense battle for control over the Russian city Stalingrad.
  • Operation Torch

    This was the British and American invasion of North Africa where Axis powers had gained control. This was an attempt to create a second front in the East, and to prepare to eventually invade from the south.
  • Invasion of Sicily

    The allied invasion of Sicily codenamed Operation Husky was a attempt to take the Island of Sicicly from the Axis powers. This was a very successful mission.

    Many people believe that this was the largest Naval battle of all time. It was a huge battle between Japan and America in which America was victorious.
  • Firestorm Raids of Tokyo

    On November 1st we first began using our b-29 bombers to drop napalm bombs all over Tokyo and other large Japanese cities. These attacks persisted all the way up to the surrender of Japan.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    This is was one of the first major losses Germany faced on the Eastern front. After lots of intense fighting the Alllied powers left a giant bulge in the Germans defense line which is where this battle got it's name. This was a huge victory for the Allies.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    The United States Marines seized and took control over the foreign Japanese Island of Iwo Jima to gain two small airstrips and gain another island.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    One of the biggest and bloodiest battles in the Pacific, very close to Japan's homeland. Largest amphibious assault in the pacific. Big victory for the U.S

  • A-Bomb first used

    This is the date in history where the U.S dropped the first ever atomic bomb in the city of Hiroshima, Japan. After a warning and chance to surrender the Japanese did not show any signs of slowing down or stopping which warranted this bombing.
  • 2nd A-bomb in Nagasaki

    After the first bomb was dropped Japan still showed no signs of surrender. 3 days later we dropped a second, the last, atomic bomb in Jpan in the city of Nagasaki. This is what led Japan into surrender.
