The Birth of Genius
Werner Heisenberg was born in Wurzburg, Germany to August and Anna Heisenberg. His father August was a professor of ancient greek language and culture and demanded his children apply themselves intensely to academia. Lee, M. Werner Karl Heisenberg. Great Neck Publishing, 2006. -
Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle
Heisenberg published and defined his Uncertainty Principle which went challenged the current Paradigm. He observed particles, units of matter smaller than electrons. But stated that it was impossible to know the position of a particle and the velocity ( at the same time. Due to the phenomena that occur when measuring a particle's position or velocity where they move under observation. -
From War comes Quantum Mechanics
After his brush with WWI and a few years at Munich university, Heisenberg found himself a 25 year with a doctorate and a job offer as a professor at the University of Leipzig. Where he would go on to challenge the current ideas of atomic theory and quantum mechanics. -
Nobel Prize
He wins the Nobel Prize in Physics for his "Heisenburg Uncertainty Principle" -
WWII Bomb Race
Heisenberg was conscripted into the German military during WWII after the discovery of nuclear fission. He and a team of scientists were tasked with developing a nuclear weapon for Germany. Rumor states he may have developed a feasible concept for one but hid his progress so as to not help the Nazis.
