    Werner Karl Heisenberg was born December 5th 1901 in Wurzburg, Germany. His parents were Dr. August Heisenberg and Annie Wecklein. His father was a classical languages teacher, and grew up Lutheran Christian.
  • Nobel Prize in Physics

    Nobel Prize in Physics
    The Nobel Prize in Physics 1932 was awarded to Werner Karl Heisenberg "for the creation of quantum mechanics, the application of which has, inter alia, led to the discovery of the allotropic forms of hydrogen". He is the third youngest person to receive the Nobel Prize, the second youngest person to receive the Nobel prize at the time.

    Heisenberg was asked go and see Albert Speer, Germany's Minister of Armaments, about developing nuclear weapons. During the meeting, Heisenberg told Speer that a bomb could not be built because it would require significant resources and more people than they currently had.

    Werner Heisenberg Death
    Werner Heisenberg died on February 1st, 1976 of kidney cancer. The day after, a large group of his co-workers and friends walked from the institute of physics to his home and lit a candle on his door step. He left behind his wife Elisabeth Schumacher, and seven children.
