Security cameras were places around and in the building. This was to discourage break-ins. Moreover, it would help convict any burgurlars.

White House staff members H.R. Haldeman, John D. Ehrlichman, and John Dean were found guilty of being a part of the break-in. Furthermore, because of this conviction these men decided to resign.

President Nixon tells the Senate Committee that he will not testify at any trial. Also, Nixon informs them that there would be no permission to access any Presidentail files.

These were ercording systems in important conference rooms and offices in the White House. Alexander Butterfield revealled the existance of these recorders at the trial.

After the Senate learned of the tapes and secret documents the lead prosecutor, along with the Senate, created a subpoena to make these pieces of evidence available. Nixon refuses and uses his executive privilege to stop the cover-up investigation.

Nixon tells the nation in a speech that the tapes would be released. Soon an edited version of the tapes was released. The content revealed the true character traits Nixon had and it turned some supporters to the other side.

This was another call for tapes. In this subpoena it stated that 64 tapes of White House conversations would be released.

To avoid certain impeachment, Nixon decided to resign. To leave with a sliver of dignity was better then none.

Nixon was succeeded by Gerald Ford. After Ford took office he quickly pardoned Nixon from any convictions.
