    It started with a 25,000 bet at an horse race with friends, saying that at full speed a horse's hooves are off the ground at some point. He wins the bet, and as he looks at the pictures of the horse and notices if you look at them quickly, the horse looks like its moving.

    People would come an look through a small peep whole and watch the " movie " like a flip book. They were short, and the disadvantage was that only on person could use it. They thought that if they only let one person at a time use it, they would make more money.

    The brothers from France invent the Cinemograph and the projectors. They were the first to actually put the projectors out in the public and put them in the cinema's. The Cinemograph was muh smaller then edisons kineograph. The videos were 30-60 seconds long. In between the movies they would have small perfomances called Vaudville. People would dance and perform small skits untill the next film. You would pay a nickle to see them, this is where Nickelodian comes from.

    Nickelodeon was the first to have the first movie theater in the U.S, they featured Vaudville in order to make a little more money. They were small theators. Movies didnt have sound so they even had sound effects and music.

    Movies started out in New York City, but because of the foggy and rainy weather it was eventually moved to L.A. Another reason for it moving was Edison. Edison wanted to be the only one making money from Picture Patents. If he found out that you were making a movie on your own, he would find you, break all your equipment, break your actors legs, and your legs. This caused movie entrepenuers to move to sunny California, so if need be, they could run straight to Mexico so Edison wouldn't find them

    Thomas Edison and MPPC didn't want to have the actors names on the the credits, he didn't want them to become famous and demand more money for their work. The Companies on the west coast had different idea's. They recognize that without the actors there wouldn't be a movie, so they gave them credit.
