    Colonial Immigration

    This group is mostly from Great Britain, and these Britains were trying to evade the persecution of their religion. Along with the europeans, man african slaves were shipped to the colonies during this period.

    1st peak of european immigration

    North and Western europeans were pushed out of Europe at this time by economic desperity and political unrest. Most of them came to reside in the United States.

    Civil War

    Here the American Civil War breaks out and deters most immigrats from moving here during this period.

    Second Peak of European Immigration

    Large amounts of immigrats came to the U.S. during this period from both North and West Europe again because the industrial revolution has forced some farmers to either move to urban area or to relocate to another country to continue farming.

    Economic Problems

    During this period economic problems in the U.S. dicouraged people from moving here.
  • Third peak of European Immigration

    Many of the immiggrant during this time were from East and South Europe as this is when the industrial revolution reached countries in this area.

    During this period WWII and the great depression discouraged people from moving to the U.S. because they either didnt want to leave during the war or didnt want to come during such an economic low point.

    During this period the amoung of immigration increased at a steady rate.

    Recent Immigration From LDC's

    DUring this period immigration to the U.S. reached historical highs. Most of the immigrants from this period come either from asia or from latin america. In both cases, people move here to improve their economic standing.
