    The Massacre at Sand Creek
    There was a Native American village called Sand Creek that was promised to the Native Americans living there in a treaty. Their chief had approached an American Army Fort and asked for saftey for his people and was promised it, the following day however 400 people were murdered in his village. The Massacre at Sand Creek was the beginning of a resistance.
  • The Transcontinental Railroad

    The Transcontinental Railroad
    On this day the Transcontinental Railroad was completed. This railroad would be very beneficial to transporting goods. It simplified a lot of things and was cheaper. After the first Transcontinental Railroad was developed more had started development.

The US was used to the immigration of Irish and German people but this time it was many more different people, and this was the beginning of the US's diverse communities.

    Hawaii was the US's first thought about world wide expansion. Not many other places were left and they had chosen Hawaii. Hawaii was under the rule of their queen but they had planned to overthrow her. They had requested support from the US for soldiers. After they had won it was left for politicians to make it officially a state but the new POTUS was inaugurated and had spoken ill of Hawaii which had delayed anofficial statement for it to become a state 1959.

    Malcolm X
    Malcolm X was influential black Muslim. He encouraged African Americans to be independent of whites and get back what was theirs by any means necessary. He then changed his style to a more peaceful style and was gunned down soon after by his rivals.

    Possibly one of the most influential conflicts that shaped America into what it is today. Many people lost their jobs and poverty was widely spread. And while having many bad effects it also had good effects such as people being more educated.

    The Social Security Act of 1935
    This act was a pension fund for retired people made up of 1% of every employee's salary and was basically a tax. It was made because the government expected for people to save their own money, but since they couldn't the government did it for them. However it was "Whatever goes around, comes around", so if you were being taxed 1% for someone's pension fund, someone was being taxed 1% for your pension fund.

    Pearl Harbor is a naval base in Hawaii that was attacked by Japanese forces. It was known that there was going to be an attack but not where. It was also one of the events that caused America to attack Hiroshima.

    The day Germany had surrendered is celebrated as Victory Day in Europe. When the allies had entered Germany they had learned that Adolf Hitler had committed suicide, they had no power to resist so they had surrendered.

    Rosa Parks was a normal African American woman that stood up to a white man. Her action inspired so many and was so influential on civil rights.

    Shortly after the release of the Birth Control Pill it was restricted in many places and could only be bought in few places. It was a game changer and helped women fight for their rights, since Birth Control Pills prevented their pregnancy they proved that women aren't only for housework

    The Desert Storm operation was very important. It was against Saddam Husseins forces because Hussein became president of Iraq and would not sell oil which is an essential part of the global economy. So in order to end his reign they attacked his forces.

    The Columbine shooting was done by two teens in their high school because they were most probably having family problems. The Columbine shootings was also another sign that there were gun violence problems and there were and the media glorified these problems
