  • Naturalization Act

    Extended the duration of residence required for aliens to become citizens to 14 years. Repealed in 1802.
  • Alien Friends Act

    The president was to deport any resident alien considered "dangerous to the peace and safety of the United States.. 2 year expiration date.

    Authorized the president to apprehend and deport resident aliens if their countries were at war with the U.S.A.

    Fined for $2,000 & imprisoned up to one year for anyone who tried to bring someone from China, Japan, or any oriental country to the U.S. without them wanting too voluntarly
  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    Did not allow Chinese immigration in the U.S for 10 years.
  • Geary Act

    Geary Act
    Strengthed the Chinese Exclusion Act (Chinese labors work only for 10 years)
  • Immigration Act of 1917

    Restricted immigrates from Asia by making a reading test for all immigrates over 14 of age except for children, wives, and elderly family members.
  • Wartime Measure

    During any war, any alien leaving or entering the country had to do it under rule and president's approval
  • Emergancy Quota Act

    Only 3% of people from a country could enter the U.S.
  • Magnuson Act

    Rewrote the Chinese Exclusion Act which made quota and Chinese nationals in the U.S. become citizens
  • Act on Alien Spouses and Children

    Allowes and spouses and minor children of citizen members of U.S. armed forces to enter.
  • Immigration and Nationality Act

    Set quota for aliens with skills needed in the U.S.
  • Cuban Refugee Adjustment Act

    Gave Cuban Nationalist U.S. legal status
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act

    Legialized immigrates (entered before Janurary 1, 1982) to stay in the U.S but with penalities of fines and will then have a legal status.
  • Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Form Act

    More border security and required schools to report foreign students attending classes
  • Real ID Act

    Required any immigrate to use ID for secuity purposes.
