The Dust Bowl was a time of mass drought and famine in America during the great depression before WWII. The over-farming of the land that came from the demand in the wealthy citizens after wartime victory caused farming lands to become unusable. The Dust bowl caused many people to lose their jobs, make less from the minimal crops they could harvest, and less food for people country wide.

In WWII the demand for workers grew drastically. Women started working in paid factories making arms and ammunition for the soldiers in Europe and also later in the war joining the military effort as medical personnel.

When the second world war started farmers' production was in very high demand. Food and ration for the war increased prices for farmers and was a drastic success after the Dust Bowl.
