This was issued by king george III after the french/indian war. Thsi became a law at that time. This was the first of parliments laws. -
Sugar Act
Parliment passed this law. This act put a tax on sugar, molasses, and other products shipped to the colonies. It also called for strict enforcment of the act and harsh punishment of smugglers. -the text book- -
Quartering Act
This act said that americans had to house british troops. Most of the troops were in New York. -
Stamp Act
The British Parliment passed the Stamp Act. This forced all documents to have an official stamp on them to show that they had paid the tax. The colonists had to pay for the stamp with silver coin. -
Boston Massacre
This was a street fight between british soldiers and patriots. The patriots were throwing snowballs and rocks and sticks.So in self defense the british shot and killed 5 patriots. -
Tea Act
This act gave British East India Company control over the American tea trade. Merchants would sell the tea from the ship.

Boston Tea Party
Sons of Liberty members dressed up as mohawk indians and board three British ships. They destroyed over 92,000 pounds of tea. This enraged the british and they wanted to be paid back. -
Administration of Justice Act
This act said that british soldiers couldn't be tried in court for any crimes that the commit. This meant that the british soldiers could do anything they wanted and not get in trouble for it. -
Massachusettes Government Act

This act closed the port of boston until the conlonists had paid for the tea they had thrown into the harbor. -
First Continental Congress
The first continental congress met first in carpentars hall in philedephia. Delegates voted to ban all trade with britain until the intolerable acts were repealed. They told each colony to train troops to fight. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
British soldiers were sent into Lexington to capture Samuel Adams and then John Hancock. After that the soliers were suposed go to concord and take gun powder. This was the first battle of the Revolutionary War. -
Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress met first on may 10, 1775 and was lead by john Hancock. They met in Philadelphia. Delagates included were John and sam adams, John Hancock, Ben Franklin, George Washington, and Patrick Henry. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
A group of American troops moved to bunker hill. The next morning British troops had cannons in their faces. British toops march up the hill and the Amercans retreated. -
Common Sense by Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine wrote the article 'Common Sense" in Philedephia. This helped convince Americans that America should break with Britain.Paine argued that all monarchs are corupt. -
The Decloration of Independence
Congress adopted the document that proclaimed independence. John Hancock was the first to sign the document. A part in it said that if government disregards these rights it will lose its right to govern. -

The colonists attack cornwallis at yorktown. British sent more troops but it was too late. The americans won the battle of yorktown. -

This marked the end of the revolutionary war. This war lasted eight years. The Americans were represented by John Adams, Ben Franklin, John Jay, and Henry Laurens.
