    US, UK, French, and Soviet military forces divided up Germany. Berlin was located far inside the Soviets territory. The Soviets built a wall to stop West Berlin from entering the city so the US sent planes with raw supplies over.

    The conflict between Communist North Korea and Non-Communist South Korea. The United Nations helped South Korea. Then North Korean troops marched into South Korea which set off the war.

  • Rosenberg trial

    Julius and his wife Ethel were tried and convicted of espionage for providing the Soviet Union with classified information. They were executed in 1953. Their trial remains controversial today.
  • First H-Bomb detonated by the United States

    U.S. detonated the first hydrogen bomb, resulting in the first successful full-scale thermonuclear weapon explosion. Operation Ivy was conducted on the Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

    They launched sputnik the world first artificial satellite. Sputnik traveled around he at 18000 miles per hours, circling the globe every 96 minutes. Its launch was triumph of Soviet technology. It linked the soviet union and seven eastern European countries after the death of Joseph Stalin.

    the Berlin Wall reduced, borders opened, and free elections ousted Communist regimes everywhere in eastern Europe. In late 1991 the state itself dissolved into its component republics. With stunning speed, the ideological barrier was lifted and also the conflict came to an end.
