    The United States overthrew the government in Iran. They removed Mohammed Mossadegh from office and put Mohammad Reza Pahlavi into office.
  • Iranian Hostage Crisis

    Islamic revolution has begun, foreigners are evacuated from Iran every day. American hostges are being held in Iran, the rescue attempt failed. The US and Iran come to an agreemant about the hostages. US unfreezes Iran's land and assets and American hostages are returned.

    The US decides to send military supplies to Iran. In an attempt to push Tehran to use their influence to secure the holding place of hostags and get the hostages released. It was originally intended to be small things, but two men who were in charge of the operation sent in large defensive parts instead. They were fired.
  • U.S. joins the Iraq-Iran war

    It starts out with the US simply protecting Arab shipping in the Persian guly, but eventually excalates into Iran firing on a US boat causing in the loss of lives. So the US joins the war to prevent Iran from hurting them again or anyone else.
  • US forces attack Iranian ships and oil platforms

    This occured in retaliation to the US navy ship that was destroyed. The US destroyed two oil platforms and sunk or damaged six of their ships.
  • U.S. Downs Iranian Airliner

    During a scirmish with Iranian vessels, the US acciedentally shoots down an Iranian plane which results in the loss of the entire crew and all 290 passengers.
  • Clinton approves new sanction against iran and lybia

    Clinton put sanctions in place to keep funding from coming from other countries to assist Iran and Lybia. Clinton's reasoning for this was because terrorism is such a big deal and Iran and Lybia are two of terrorism's biggest suporters.
