    The government only allowed certain Chinese immigrants to migrate to the United States. They had to have a certain skills and permission from the Chinese government stating they are qualified. It was difficult to get entry due to the mining skills the U.S. wanted.

    Ellis Island opens as an immigration station in 1892. It was a stop where immigrants were checked on proper papers. Many European immigrants came through Ellis Island.

    SB1070 is a passed bill in Arizona that is supposed to control illegeal immigration. It states that it is against state law to be in Arizona illegaly. Legal citizens would be required to carry proof of their to be in the state at all times. Included in this bill is the right for police to question anyone they believe might be undocumented.

    Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
    The DACA will allow people who were brought into the country when they were 16 years of age or under, to not be deported. They need to have been living in the United States for 5 years, are in school, high school graduates or a military/ veteran background for the US. As well as be in good standing with the law and be under the age of 30.
