  • Constitutional Convention

    Constitutional Convention
    A bunch of delegates from all the states except Rhode Island met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in May of 1787. Known as the Constitutional Convention. At this meeting it was decided that the best solution to the young country's problems was to set aside the Articles of Confederation and so they should write a new constitution.
  • Northwest Ordinance

    Northwest Ordinance
    The Northwest ordinance provided a method for admitting new states to the Union from the territory. Also it listed a bill of rights guaranteed in the territory. So basically it established clear processes for acquiring, settling and organizing western lands

    Revolution of 1800
    The Democratic-Republican candidate, Vice President Thomas Jefferson defeated the Federalist Party candidate President John Adams. So there was a Democratic-Republican leadership.

    The War of 1812 (1812-15) was fought between the United States and Great Britain. Because they had disagreements over trade and western expansion. It lasted until 1815
