  • Japanese Invasion of China

    Also known as the Sino-Japanese war tookplace in China during pre-world war 2 and during the war. The cause was a japanese imperialist policy aiming to fully dominate China. Economically, Japan needed more resources. Militaristically, they wanted to prove they were strong and could subjugate other countries. Their military decisions were also influenced by ideas of Pan-Asianism, and Japan was still not recognized as a genuine member of the western community. Japan surrendered in 1945.
  • Rape of Nanking

    From December 13th, 1937- January 1938. In Nanjing, China, the Nanking Massecre occured over the coarse of about six weeks, the Day that the Japanese captured Nanjing. Soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army murdered Chinese Civilians and disarmed combatants numbering an estimated 40,000 to over 300,000 and perpitrated widespread rape and looting. A key perpetrator "Prince Asaka" of the Imperial Family, escaped prosecution and punishment by having earlier been granted immunity by the allies.
  • Japanese Invasion of Poland

    At 4:45 A.M, 1.5 million german Troops invade Poland. They striked in the air, on the ground and by sea. To hitler, such an invasionwould bring "living space" to the german people. To neutralize the possibility that the USSR would come to Poland's aid. germany signed a nonagression pact with the Soviet Union on Aug 23. After finding out about poland's and Britain's agreement that had been signed one day before the planned date of the attack. The outcome: german and Soviet victory and WWII begins
  • German Blitzkrieg

    After agreeing to the Germany Soviet Pact in August 1939, the Germans invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939, Starting the second World War. The Germans and their countries causing disorganization. This tactic was called the German Blitzkrieg or "Lightning War". They used mobil strikes and concentrated fire power. The fighting which happened after the fall of Poland stopped on April 9th, 1940 because of German forces which invaded Norway and Denmark.
  • Fall of Paris

    The fall of Paris was a battle between the Germans and France. The Germans had decided to circle France in so they would be trapped within their walls. France decided to evacuate their people to England before Germany could hurt them. In the process, German troops managed to destroy civilian vessels on their way to England. Back in Paris, the French resistance had fallen and a couple days later, the Capital had also fallen.
  • Operation Barbossa

    Hitler saw that the Russian people needed to submit if Germans new Empire dreams were to be reached. His plan was to have the captured farmlands feed his military and force the people into slavery.The Axis power thought that through strength, numbers, and catching them off guard that they could over-take Mascow. Their combined 3.8 million troops tried attacking Russias 2.9 million fighting men and women. The Germans and their allies broke the German- Soviet Pact when they invaded the Soviet Unio
  • Wannsse Conference

    In 1942, Nazi officials met on a specific day to discuss the details of the "Financial Soluction" of the "Jewish question". Heydrich proposed transporting Jews from all of Europe to concentration camps in Poland and working them to death. This plan was too time consuming. They finally found their solution when the gas vans in Poland were killing about 1,000 people a day. This was the most efficient way of killing a large amount of people at one time.
  • Bataan Death March

    The US surrendered the the Japanese on the Phillipine Island of Luzon. Approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troups were forced to walk 65 miles to their prison camps. Thousnads died in the bad conditions on the way to the prison camps and they named it the Bataan Death March.
  • Battle Midway

    The battle of Midway was a decisive naval battle in the pacific theater of World War 2. Between the 3rd and the 7th of June 1932, only 6 months after Japans attack. 6 months before the battle of Midway, the islands were attacked on December 7th, 1941
  • Opperation Gomarah

    Bombing of Hamburg during World War 2. This attack was mainly towards Hamburgs shipyards, U-boat pens, and oil refineries. This created one of the largest fire storms raise by the royal airforce and the US army airforces. This killed 42,600 civilians and wounded 37,000. This opperation created 1,500 foot high tornado of fire.
  • Opperation Thunderclap

    Operation Thunderclap was a code name for an attack against Berlin. It was canceled, but believed to have possibly cuased 220,000 casualties and 110,000 deaths. The bombing would mostly effect Berlin, Dresden, Chemnitz, and Leipzig. This was a Soviet plan talked about at the Yalta conference.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    From December 16th, 1944, to January 25th, 1945, a major German offence campaign launched in the middle of a densely forested Ardennes region of Wallania in France. It was Germanys final attempt to drive the allies off the main land of Europe. This was pretty much one of the greatest battles every fought by the US military.
  • VE day

    Victory in Europe Day was on May 8th, 1945. VE day was officially announced the end of World War 2 in Europe. On Monday May 7th, German general Jodi signed the unconditional surrender document that formally ended war in Europe.
  • Dropping of the Atomic Bomb

    The atomic bomb was made by the United States who wanted a new weapon that would bring the war against Japan to a quick end. Germany had already been defeated but Japan was not yet ready to surrender. It was August 6, 1945 when the U.S. had finally finished creating the atomic bomb and decided to drop it on a Japanese city, Hiroshima. The bomb killed around 80,000 people immediately and then more thousands of people who died from the bomb’s injuries. A couple days later another bomb was dropped.
  • VJ Day

    News of the surrender was announced to the world. This sparked spontaneous celebrations over the final ending of World War II. On September 2, 1945, a formal surrender ceremony was held in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. At the time, President Truman declared September 2 to be VJ Day.
