Early Life of Ernest Nagel
In 1911, at the age of 10 Ernest came to the United States of America with his family and received his citizenship in 1919. In 1923, Ernest Nagel received a Bachelors of Science from the City College of New York. Mr. Nagel went on to earn his PhD from Columbia University in New York City, New York in 1931. After earning his PhD Ernest Nagel spent the next 39 years, 1931 to 1970, teaching philosophy at Columbia University. -

Ernest Nagel was an atheist and a philosopher of science. He is often seen as one of the major figures of the logical positivist movement. In 1961, Ernest Nagel published a book called The Structure of Science. This book is considered to be one of the foundational works in the logic of scientific explanation. In this book Nagel explains the nature of explanation, the logic of scientific discovery, and the logical study of the organization of scientific knowledge.

The Death of Ernest Nagel
Ernest Nagel passed away in New York on September 20, 1985. Nagel passed away due to complications with pneumonia at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center at the age of 83.
