    In 1911, at the age of 10 Ernest came to the United States of America with his family and received his citizenship in 1919. In 1923, Ernest Nagel received a Bachelors of Science from the City College of New York. Mr. Nagel went on to earn his PhD from Columbia University in New York City, New York in 1931. After earning his PhD Ernest Nagel spent the next 39 years, 1931 to 1970, teaching philosophy at Columbia University.
