    The Brown v. Board of Education was a Supreme Court case where the court said white and black schools to be unconstitutional. The court realized this was going against the fourteenth amendment. This was a victory for civil rights activists.
  • Claudette Colvin

    Claudette Colvin was the first African-American to refuse to give her seat up on a bus.
  • Rosa Parks

    After being asked multiple times by bus driver James F. Blake, NAACP member Rosa Parks refused to give here seat up for a white man. She soon got arrested. Rosa Parks had inpired people to boycott the buses and refuse to give up seats.

    Martin Luther King, Jr. gave the speach "I Have a Dream." to support president Kennidy's decisions on civil rights. On this day, thousands of people came to Washington Monument to listen. Martin gave his speech corisponding to the centennial of the Emancipation Proclamation.
