    For this assignment, you will be creating a timeline looking at the period from 1990 to 2010. You are to have a minimum of ten events on your timeline. As you will see there is a character limit for each entry and I would advise you to get as close to that limit as possible. Of these ten events, at least five of the events must be things we did not specifically discuss in class.
  • Ruby Ridge

    Ruby Ridge

    Randy Weaver, a member of the white supremacist movement, and federal agents engaged in a confrontation in Ruby Ridge over the sale of weapons. Weaver's wife, kid, and a U.S. Marshal all died. The confusion surrounding the incident has raised concerns about state government excess and unjust use of force by law enforcement organizations. The disaster altered police practices and had a long lasting impact on how the government interacted with far-right organizations. (History.com, 2)
  • Waco Siege

    Waco Siege

    It involved a 51-day standoff that happened in Waco, Texas, and is often referred to as the Waco Siege. It was led by David Koresh. The FBI attempted to reach a compromise with Koresh and the remaining cult members. 51 days were spent on the discussions. When the FBI used tear gas to try and remove the Branch Davidians from the building, a fire started and eventually destroyed it, killing 76 people, including David Koresh and 25 children.     In 1995 Two men named Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh planted a bomb in Oklahoma City at a Federal Building on April 19 which was the start of the Oklahoma City bombing. The bombing caused 680 injuries and 168 deaths. The Oklahoma City bombing had a massive effect on both those who died and those who were killed.     Happened in Litteton, Colorado. The shooting at Columbine resulted in one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S history which killed 13 people and injured 21. The shooting was by two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who were armed with guns and bombs. Following almost an hour of shooting, the two students took their own lives in the library of the school. It caused awareness about mental health, school safety, and gun laws for the future to stop this. (Kruse and Zelizer)

    In 2000, one of the most intense presidential campaigns in American history took place. It involved Democrat Al Gore against Republican George W. Bush, with Florida's election results determining the winner. Bush was announced the 43rd President of the United States by the Supreme Court.     Starting on March 20th, The Iraq war begun and lasted almost 9 years. It was initiated by the the U.S. goverment and was publicized by Bush and the white house. It was very controversial mostly cased by 9/11 and involved the United States. It was controversial internationally, with widespread protests against the conflict of U.S. government's justification for going to war. This war had an estimate of ten to thousand of deaths.     Happened August 29th. Individuals of the Bay Coast prepared themselves as the 6th most grounded tropical storm in Atlantic history. It thundered inland as a Classification 3 tempest spreading obliteration from Texas to Florida. A lot of the city stayed in stale floodwaters for quite a long time. Adding to the emergency was the powerless government reaction to the Administrative Crisis. Katrina guaranteed 1,836 lives, and 705 individuals were ordered as absent. (Kruse and Zelizer, 280)

The economic collapse demonstrated how globalization implies that countries are not protected from the effects of homelessness, rising unemployment rates, and a weak GDP.
