    Bill Clinton Takes Office as President

    Bill Clinton, the former governor of Arkansas, was the 42nd President of the United States. He gave majority of his focus on the economic reform during his administration and even campaigned economic populism. His motto was to help benefit ordinary Americans by changing the system. Although he seems like one of the most historical important presidents, he is impeached in 1998 for having an affair with one of his interns, Monica Lewinksy. (Kruse and Zelizer, page 204).

    California Coalition for Immigration Reform

    The CCIR was founded by Barbara Coe in order to deny benefits towards immigrants and their children. These benefits consisted of social and medical benefits. On Interstate 10, the CCIR paid for a billboard to warn visitors that California was an 'illegal immigrant state' and to not let this happen to other states. Coe is credited to her political immigration activism because she spoke her voice when the United States was being infiltrated with immigrants. (Kruse and Zelizer, 219).

    Gingrich Revolution

    Newt Gingrich, the 50th speaker of the House of Representatives, changed the course of American political history when Republicans took over the house and the Senate. From 1952-1994 the Democratic Party was in control over the House of Representatives. Gingrich and his team were a set of new legislators coming into the political system which changed the scale of democrats to republicans. (Kruse and Zelizer, 213)
  • Oklahoma City Bombing

    Oklahoma City Bombing

    The Oklahoma City bombing was the realization of terrorists within the United States. Timothy McVeigh parked his rented truck outside of a federal building with a deadly bomb inside, blowing up the side of the building. Many nearby buildings were destroyed along with over 150 people killed in the bombing. This was the cause of terrorism within the United States. McVeigh is a responsible for committing a mass murder and hundred of lives are on his hands. (Kruse and Zelizer, 221)
  • DOMA

    DOMA

    The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was created by Congress and signed into law by President Clinton. It banned the acknowledgment of same-sex marriage in every single state. The definition of marriage then was a man and a women. DOMA was passed in both houses of Congress by a large amount and created opposition for the Republic Party mostly. Any person who was homosexual and wanted same-sex marriage would not be recognized. (Kruse and Zelizer, 218)
  • Columbine High School Massacre

    Columbine High School Massacre

    In Littleton, Colorado, two teenagers, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, went to Columbine High School to shoot the school. They killed 13 people and wounded many others. After the two teenagers were done with their shooting spree, they committed suicide. At this point in US history, this was one of the worst school shootings yet.   • 2000 Presidential Election

    2000 Presidential Election

    The 2000 election was held against Republican, George W. Bush and Democratic, Al Gore. Although Gore won the popular vote, Bush won the electoral college vote by a five person difference. It was a tight election, many voting ballots were scams and invalid because people where very prominent on who they wanted to win the election.   • 9/11

    9/11

    On this day, 4 planes were hijacked and sent on a suicide mission to bomb major buildings in the United States. Two planes were targeted towards the World Trade Center while one hit the Pentagon in Virginia and the last flew in a field in Pennsylvania. This attack triggered a scare for terrorism, mainly from Islamic nations. Osama bin Laden organized and funded the attack in response to the Persian Gulf War. (Kruse and Zelizer, 243)

    Usain Bolt and the Beijing Olympics

    Usain Bolt held the faster record of sprinting 100m and 200m at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Bolt was the first sprinter to win both 100m and 200m in history. His partake in olympic history succeeded sport boundaries. Not only did he win double in the 2008 olympics but he won the next consecutive years in 2012 and 2016.     Financial Crisis of 2008

    The stock market crash of 2008 occurred when the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 777.68 points. There was a growth of mortgage lending, unregulated markets, and a large number of consumer debt. Due to the crisis, the housing prices dropped by a 29% rate.
