    Battle of the Atlantic

    The German U-boats were sinking unprotected U.S and other allies boats, after they were being sinked the allies started using convoys to protect thier boats. Allies would use sonar systems to detect German U-boats. The Germans were sucsessful at first then the allies gained upper hand by mid 1943.
  • Pearl Harbour Continue

    Sunday morning, the U.S military was taken off guard, then 2 full blown attacks happened on Pearl Harbour. 2,400 U.S military and people lost their lives, 1,178 U.S. military and people injured and 18 ships and 350 planes sunk or damaged.

    Battle of the Coral Sea

    The Jaenese were taking over the Pacific and winning every battle. The U.S and Australia stopped Japan from invading. Japan won the actual battle but the allies managed to stop Japan from invation for the first time. The U.s started using the island hopping technique to weaken Japan's forces.

    Admiral Chester Nimitz intercepted Japanese code. The U.S launched a surprise attack on Japan at a Pacific island. The U.S was successful in the battle of Midway.

    Battle of Stalingrad

    The Germans violated nonaggression pact with Sovient Union then attacked. Hitler wanted to capture all the Soivnet oil fields. Germans basically won because they controlled 9/10 of the city.
  • Normandy Invastion (D-Day)

    Soviet union was pushing into Poland while allies were pushing North in Italy. Generals Dwight D. Eisenhower and George Patton influential in leading an attack. 150,000 Allie troops had invaded.

    27,000 Japenese had held Iwo Jima and the U.S won. 26,800 Japenese troops died and 6,000 U.S marienes died.

    Battle of Okinawa

    It was Japans last defensive stronghold, Japan used 1,900 kamikaze attacks. 110,000 Japenese troops died and 7,600-12,500 U.S troops died. The U.S won.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt passed away at the begging of his 4th term of being president. After the death of Franklin Roosevelt, the U.S went through a major greiving period. Harry S. Truman, the vice president took over the role of being president.

    General Eisenhower accepted a surrender by the third Reich. V.E Day stands for Victory in Europe Day. The first part of war was over.
