  • Gassing of the Disabled Begins

    In Germany the Phically and mentally disabled were gassed. Over two years 200-250 thousand people were murdered. The was called action T4.
  • Enstein Warns President Roosevelt

    Leo Szilar, Eugene Wigner and Edward Teller, were three scientist who felf from Nazi Germany. They Convinced Albert Einstein to write a letter to the President about Germanys development with Nuclear Bombs. So on the 2nd of August 1939 he sent the letter outlining the situation in Germany.
  • Germany invaded Poland

    Germany invaded Poland
    To invade poland Germany used a tactic called Blitzkrieg. Poland had about two million men who were easily defeated by the germans who were in tanks. While the Polish were on horse back.

  • Germany invades Denmark and Norway

    The Germans invaded Norway and Denmark. Even though Hitler had a Treaty Denmark. Also Norways leader at the time, Vidkun Quisling, becameb known as the Traitor after the attack.
  • Germay Invades Holland

    When the Germans attacked Holland the Dutch were helpless. There was no way that they had a chance against Germanys Blitzkrieg. When the Port City of Rotterdam was bombed the Queen of Holland, Wilhelmina escaped to england. In the fishting in Holland the Dutch alone suffered 100,000 casualties.
  • Operation Dynamo

    Operation Dynamo
    Operation Dynamo started at the end of May and ended on June 4th. The goal of this operation was to get as many english soldiers as possible back from englang who were stuck in Belgium. To do this They asked the population to donate ships to bring the soldiers home. They got 887 ships and 338,226 men were rescued and brought back to England.

  • Paris Falls

    First the Germans raided by air. Then By land using about 2000 tanks heading to the capital. The Goverment left on June 11.
  • Battle of Britain

    From September of 1940 to June of 1941 Germanys Airforce dropped Bombs on major Citys in Britain especially in London. Over 30,000 Londoners were killed by the Germans. Also though 1,700 German Aircraft were Detroyed.
  • President Roosevelt created the National Defence Reasearch Committee

    President Roosevelt created the National Defence Reasearch Committee
    Roosevelt made the NDRC which later changed to the Office of Scientific Research and Development OSRAD. He dveloped these progranms to mobilize the nations's scientists and engineers. One of their most famous projects was the Manhattan Project.

  • Germany took Yugoslavia

    Hitler attacked Yugoslavia using the excuse that he was trying to Protect Germans there. Also Italy moved against Albaia. Yugoslav was very feirce even afer they were split up between the Axis Powers.

    The United states Began the Manhattan Project at the begininng of October 1941. The Manhattan was the code name for the project where the U.S Researched the Nuclear Bomb. The Project costed $2 Billion and employ over 100,000.

  • Germany Attacks Moscow

    Germany reached the outskirts of Moscow, the Soviets Capital during October of 1941. Infantry soldiers were used to attack the city. This was not very sucessful because the non Prepared soldiers were thrown off by the winter weather.
  • Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor

    Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor
    Japan attacked Pearl Harbor while negotiations were still going on between Japannese Diplomats in Washington. During the attack on Hawaii 2,350 Americans were killed and the U.S's Pacific fleet was nearly completly destroyed. As a result of the attack the United States Declared war on Japan.

  • Roosevelt announces Unconditional Surrender policy

    During 1943 President Roosevelt Announced a new policy. It was called the Unconditional Durrender Policy. It stated that America would only accept an unconditional Surrender from Japan and Germany.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    After months of Preperation Dwight D. Eisenhower led over 200,000 Allied troops on to the Beachs of Normanday, France. The worst fighting was on Omaha beach where soldiers were killed as they came out of the transport ships. Eventually the French capital fell two months later.

  • Allies Agree to Use Bomb aganist Japan

    After a secret meeting between Roosevelt and Churchill the allies decided to use the atomic bomb to attack Japan. The atomic bomb still was not ready but when it was they had the go ahead to use it. This Information was not given to the Soviet Union.
  • Roosevelt Dies

    Roosevelt Dies
    On April 12, 1945 President Franklin Roosevel dies during his Presidency. Harrt Truman takes office without any knowledge of the Atomic Project. He is not Briefed until April 25.

    Germany Surrenders
    On May 8, 1945 Germany finnally surrenders. Japanese leaders still not budgeing. Japanese leaders also released a statement saying that they will not stop fighting until the bitter end.

  • Hiroshima Bombing

    Hiroshima Bombing
    After years of planning the U.S Drops atomic bomb on Hiroshima Killing 140,000 people. The Japanese were given little warning other that the postdam warnig which said that if they did not surrender they would suffer utter devistation. The Japanese chose to ignore this warning and Truman gave the final go ahead on July 31, 1945.
