    Brittan needed money to finance the war. So they

  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763, and it ended The French and Indian War. The British were successful in getting the French out of North America, and they gained all French colonies in the North America.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    It was to keep the colonist form moving west of the applation mountains.The colonist got mad because of the king telling them what to do without being there.
  • Sugar Act 1764

    The Parliament cut the taxes from the Sugar Act in half and became more strict on collecting the taxes on sugar and rum, hoping to actually collect the taxes. The colonists reacted by stealing sugar and rum.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act is put into place. The British place taxes on all paper items, such as legal documents, licenses, playing cards, and more. The colonists react by boycotting British goods, and protesting.
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act was when the colonist were forced to house the brittish soldiers. In times of peace when they were not even at war.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Customs offices could search ships at will
    Few colonist were effected but many owners felt it was an invasion of privacy
  • Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Act was placed to help collect money from the British colonies to help pay governors and judges. The colonists protested this act.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre is where British soldiers fired into a group of protesters, killing five of them, injuring others. The colonists were chanting at the soldiers as well as throwing objects at them.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act was a tax placed on tea, to get rid of surplus of tea. The colonists smuggled tea, and held protests such as the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Angry with the Tea Act, colonists disguised themselves and boarded British ships. They dumped all the tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts were placed to punish Boston for the Boston Tea Party. The harbor closed, meetings became illegal, and military ruled in the colony until they paid off the tea. The colonists reacted by wanting to go to war against Britain.
  • Lexington

    The first shot was fired in this battle of the war. But no one knows which side it came from. This first shot became known as, "the shot heard 'round the world." The British won this battle.
  • Concord

    The Patriots gathered at Concord. After a short battle at North Bridge, the British began to retreat. Patriots lined the road and shot the British soldiers as they retreated. By the time the British reached Boston, 250 men were either killed or wounded.
  • 2nd Continental Congress

    It was when George Wasington and the founding fathers put together the first contental army. To fight for the war.
  • Ft. Ticonderoga

    Benedict Arnold, Ethan Allen, and his Green Mountain Boys set out to overthrow the fort. The British were surprised and captured by Americans.
  • Bunker Hill

    Hill. It was the first official planned battle of the Revolution. The Patriots were able to push back the British two times. On the third attempt, the British took bunker hill.
  • Common Sense

    This was used to get people for the war cause. It got everybody wanting to go and fight.
  • Declaration of Independence

    It was the colonies telling King Goerge that we do nolonger want to be a part of him. That we are, are own free nation and we do not need your help controling us.
  • Battle of New York

    The British wanted to capture New York City, the center of the Colonial economy. Washington avoided capture and retreated into Pennsylvania.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Trenton was under control by German mercenaries called Hessians. On December 25th Washington and his men crossed the Delaware River in a snowstorm. Washington was victorious in this battle
  • Battle of Princeton

    When Goerge Wastington captured 300 british troops.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Saratoga was the turning point of the war for the American Patriots. When the British arrived at the fort, General Benedict Arnold and his troops were waiting for them. General Bergoyne surrendered his whole army to the Americans. French finally agreed to help the Americans fight the British.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    Washington and his men spent the long cold winter in Valley Forge Pennsylvania. The American troops were in desperate need of food and warm clothing.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle of the war. The French Navy helped General George Washington and his army by blocking the harbor. The Americans and the French wo aginast the British. This was a victory for America.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The treaty of Paris said that the British had to recognized the United States as an independent nation. the British had to give up all land east of the Mississippi River from Canada to Florida, and the colonist had to give back all taken land from the loylists
