Germans just simply went around it and it became a very expensive joke. By June 1940 most of the troops who had patrolled this defense line had surrendered, without the artillery having been used once, France had fallen to the Nazis. -
The Miracle at Dunkirk
French and many British soldiers, who were taken by surprise by Hitler’s blitzkrieg, retreated to French port of Dunkirk (on the English channel) and had become trapped by the advancing German armies. The soldiers were trapped in Dunkirk so people from England come over in boats and rescured them. -
