Proclamation of 1763
This Proclamation gave the French's land to the Indians, but prevented the Colonists from spreading outside the Applachians. -

This law made Americans pay more taxes on all paper-related things to help fund the French and Indian War -
Quatering Act
This act was to make the Colonists give British troops anything they needed if they were to ask, like a place to stay, food, water, etc. -
Townshend Acts
This was a series of acts that were laid on the Colonists. The big 5 were the Revenue Act of 1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice Admiralty Court Act, and the New York Restraining Act -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre is one of the most known historical events in American history. The British Army stationed soldiers in Boston, and a group of these soldiers shot and killed 5 civillians, while injuring 6 others. -
Loyalists/Patriots
Loyalists were the people in the colonies that supported the British in the Revolutionary War. The Patriots, the Colonists that supported America and the Revolution at the time, often turned their backs on them and wanted their freedom. -

Sons of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty was an organization of Patriots in America. They protected the rights of the Colonists and wanted to abolish British Law. Their best movement was the Boston Tea Party, led by Samuel Adams. -
Samuel Adams
Sam Adams was one of the Founding Fathers of the US. He also participated in the Boston Tea Party as one of the Sons of Liberty. He was in heavy politics as the governer of Massachutses. -
Intolerable Acts
These acts were put in by the British in response to the Boston Tea Party, to cut down Massachutses's government and rights. The other colonies became outraged, therefore, making this event a key role to starting the Revolutionary War. -
1st Continental Congress
This was a meeting of the colonies at the time to gather each other up to respond to the Intolerable Acts that had taken over Mass. -
Paul Revere
Paul Revere was very well known for his Midnight ride through Concord. He was sent by Joseph Warren to warn the Mass. Provincial Congress about the British movement of troops. Acting quickly, the town moved all of their military related things to a different location. This prevented the British from getting their supplies for the soon-to-come war. -
Lexington and Concord
The first battle (or millitary engagement) of the Revolutionary War was the Battle of Lexington and Concord, fought in Mass. shortly after Paul Revere's warning about the troops closing in. -
Hessians
Hessians were German troops that were hired by the British to fight in the Revolutionary War. England took advantage of these troops because they were cheaper than their army and they didnt want to spend many British lives to win the war. -
George Washington
Washington is one of the most known historical American figures. He became the first president of the United States, was the commander of the Conitnental Army in the Rev. War, and helped write the US Constitution. Also, George was considered as one of the few Founding Fathers. -
Martha Washington
Martha Washington was the first First lady of America, as the wife of George Washington. She was known as Lady Washington, to the Colonists. -
Thomas Paine/Common Sense
Thomas Paine was a British born man who moved to America in his mid-thirties. When the war broke out, he supported the Patriots, and during that time, he had published one of America's most famous book, called Common Sense. It encouraged Americans to stay in the fight until the end and reasons why we have to seperate form Britian. -
Abigail Adams
Abigail Adams was the second First Lady of the US, being married to John Adams (They later had a son, John Quincy Adams, who became the 6th President). She was one of the first women to protest against Womens Rights and Slavery, which she thought should be apart of America's Rights. Abigail also was very a very inteligent woman, which was quite rare at the time. -
Declaration of Independance
The signing of this historical document declared independance for the colonies from Britian in America, by John Addams and the Contential Congress. -
Battle of Saratoga
The British forces in America developed a plan to cut New England out of the Thirteen Colonies and take control of them. This battle would effect the outcome of so, but the Colonists held them back. -
Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson was also a very well-known figure of US history. He had writen the Declaration of Ind., was the third President of the United States, and had tken part of the 1st Continental Congress. He had aslo made the Louisiana Purchase, and started the Lewis and Clark Expedition. -
Benedict Arnold
Benedict Arnold was born and raised in America. He joined the army to fend off the British when the war started, and after several acts of bravery and winning many battles, he was promoted to a major general for the Colonists. After he took command of West Point, he suddenly changed sides and offered the fort to the British. But before he could do that, his plan was exposed, and he was kicked out of the Militia, so he joined the British Forces, already at a high rank. -
Battle of Yorktown
This was the last major battle in the Revolutioinary War, with George Washingotn commanding the American army for this prticular battle. The British then surrendered, after Washington killed much of the army. After this surrender, the British ended the whole conflict in America. -
Charles Cornwallis
Cornwallis was a British Amry Officer in England. He participated in the last battle of the war, Yorktown. When his army was defeated there, he was the Brit to surrender to George Washington, and ended the war with that loss. -

This treaty was, of ,course the document signed to end the Revolutionary War in America, shortly after the British surrendered to Washington at Yorktown.
