Bill Clinton defeated George Bush and Ross Perot to become the first Democratic president in 12 years. Bush received 38% of the vote, Clinton recieved 43% of the vote and Perot recieved 19%.

The House Judicary Committee, voting along strait party lines, approved four articles of impeachment. Those articles said that Clinton had committed perjury, obstructed justice and abusedpower. This made Clinton only the second president to face an impeachment trial in the senate.
