This was a significant event in the war because it brought the United States into World War II. The entrance of the US gave a much needed boost to the Allied Nations.

    The Battle of Coral Sea
    This was a major battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy and the Allied naval and air forces from the United States and Australia. It lasted 4 days. It was important because it was the first battle of its kind, and although it was a draw, the fact that this was the first time the Allies had stopped the Japanese advance was of great significance.

    This is known as one of the most important naval battles of World War II. The aim of the Japanese was to eliminate the United States from the war.
    This was an important event because the Japanese failed to defeat the United Stated. They lost 4 aircraft carriers, while the United States only lost one. This victory proved that the Allies’ naval army might be able to defeat Japan’s again.

    This was an invasion in which the objective was to capture three airfields on Iwo Jima, Japan. This battle had some of the most aggressive fighting in World War II.
    This was a significant battle because the reason for taking Iwo Jima was to use it as an emergency landing for the two aircrafts scheduled to drop the atomic bombs on Japan.

    This day is also known as Victory over Japan Day. On this day, Japan announced that it had surrendered to the Allies. The announcement was made in Japan, where a surrender document was also signed.
    This is definitely an important event because it brought about the end of World War II.
