    This battle was an attempt to to open a passage to attack Austrailia through the eastern part of Dutch East Indies.
  • Doolittle Raid

    Doolittle Raid
    This is the bombing of the Japanese Home Islands. This is to prove that they are not truly invincible. The bombing boosted morale for US soldiers.
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    This battle is thought to be the most important of the Pacific Theatre. It caused irreparable damage on the Japanese navy.
  • Battle of Komandorski Islands

    Battle of Komandorski Islands
    This battle was different than any other fought in World War 2. This was exclusively fought with surface ships. Neither fleet had air or submarine assistance.
  • Operation Hailstone

    Operation Hailstone
    Operation Hailstone was a massive naval air and surface attack. It occured at the Japanese naval and air base at Truk in the Caroline Islands.
  • Amiralty Islands Campaign

    The US had been told that these islands were evacuated, however, they were not. The islands were strategically important.

    Both US and Australian forces landed on the island, It was to be used as a military base in supporting the liberation of the Philippines that year.

    This battle produced some of the fiercest fighting of World War 2. Also known as "Operation Detachment", the US fought for and captured the island from Japan.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    This battle formed the largest amphibious assault of World War 2. It was known as "Operation Iceberg" adn lasted for 82 days.
