Capturing a Nazi
The agents had to be very patient as they waited for Eichmann to exit his usual commuter bus. It was dark when he stepped off the bus and they executed their plan to grab him and put him into the limousine. Upon being captured, Eichmann remained quiet, breathing heavily. A few minutes later, he leaned up slightly and said in flawless German, "I am already resigned to my fate." So, he clearly understood what was going to happen to him. He was now a prisoner of the Jewish people. -
Planning to get Eichmann to Israel for trial
Tacuara, a Neo-Nazi group was very angry when Eichmann's sons told them that their father was missing and possibly captured by the Israelis. They immediately started searching for Eichmann across the city. The team stayed quiet in the safe house as they considered ways to extract Eichmann from Argentina. It was going to be a dangerous mission no matter what tactic they would decide on. -
Final preparations
A special El Al flight crew arrived in a jet that would be used to take Eichmann back to Israel for trial. While waiting for the jet to arrive, the team was still trying to get Eichmann to agree in writing to go to Israel for a fair trial. Malkin, one of the Mossad team members played music for Eichmann and let him have some wine. He convinced him to sign an agreement, which was very important. -
Plane Departure With Eichmann
The special agents Aharoni, Tabor, Malkin, Shalom, and others spent many hours coordinating exactly how to get Eichmann on the El Al flight Eichmann was drugged and brought on the plane. This flight would take him to eventually to Israel. -
Eichmann Arrives In Israel
After a tense start, the agents got Eichmann settled on the plane. There were few problems with the flight plan but they finally took off. Over the next two days, they traveled more than 9000 miles. -
Eichmann Is Finally On The Ground In Israel
On May 23 Eichmann is arrested officially for the crime of genocide. The announcement was made by Ben-Gurion to the people of Israel. Many people were shocked at this news. The newspapers announced the capture of Eichmann and the Jewish people felt some relief. -
Trial Of Adolf Eichmann
The Trial Of Adolf Eichmann began on April 11, 1961. The trial lasted 56 days. Zeev Sapir testified about life in Auschwitz. Eichmann was sentenced to death on December 15, 1961. He requested clemency and was denied. On May 30 at 12;00 PM Eichmann was hanged. His body was creamated and his ashes thrown in the ocean. -
After Eichmann's Trial And Death
The Eichmann family continued to deny his guilt and some of his children continued to be Neo-Nazi supporters. Peter Malkin visits his mother on her death bed to share the news that Eichmann had been brought to justice and executed.
