    Chopin was born in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. His parents were Nicholas Chopin and Jusyna Krzyzanowska. His father was a teacher and a tutor for aristocratic families. Chopin was the only son.

    Polonaises in G Minor Chopin was seven years old when his first piece was published. His family was muscial. His father played the flute and violin and his mother gave piano lessons. His first teacher was his sister, Ludwika. His first professional teacher was Wojciech Zywny.

    Chopin Left Poland to travel. Due to Russian suppresion on Poland after the November 1830 Uprising, her was never able to return home. This was devestating for Chopin who was said by George Sand to be "more Polish than Poland". He traveled throughout Eurpor and settled in Paris.

    Chopin died in Paris of pulmonary tuberculosis. He is buried in Paris but at his request, his sister took his heart back to Poland to be buried. This picture is the actual death mask of Chopin. This was the second mask made. The first was destroyed because Chopin's sister said he looked too sick and ugly.
