    -The original "Zelda" game, released in the US for the NES FUN FACT: this year, 2011, is the 25th anniversary of the Japanese release in 1986. 2012 is the North American 25th anniversary. More interestingly, for people unfamiliar with the series, the main protagonists name in most of the series is Link not Zelda, which is the name of the Princess he must save

    -Released in the US on the SNES or Super Nintendo FUN FACT: A Link to the Past pioneered many things in the series including the ability to swing the sword across many squares rather than stabbing forward into just one square making combat easier. The series is also the first to introduce the existance of two parallel worlds, a recurring element in future titles
