  • 1878

    • In 1878 the amendment was first introduced in Congress. August 18 of 1920 this amendment was ratified. The votes for woman worked, but actually achieving their goal will be hard.
  • 1912

    • Some states have a program for helping acts pass in each state. Nine states have adopted laws for woman suffrage. The legislation passed this in 1912.
  • 1912

    • Also in 1912 they had difficulties with male-only voting for laws in the court. Militant suffragists had parades, silent vigils, and also had hunger strikes. Some people went to jail.
  • 1916

    • In 1916 they had a suffrage with organizations that were untitled by the goal of the constitutional amendment.
  • 1917

    • In 1917 a New York adopted woman suffrage. President Wilson changed his position to support an amendment in 1918.
  • 1918

    • In 1918 the political balance began to take a turn. This happened because of the woman suffrage act in 1917.
  • 1919

    • May 21 of 1919, House of Representatives had passed the amendment. Two weeks later the senate had followed.
  • 1920

    • Tennessee became the 36th to ratify the amendment. This happened on August 18, 1920.

    • August 26, 1920 they bill has been accepted. So now woman can vote as equally as a male.
