Guy Motors Founded
Guy Motors Ltd was registered by Sydney S Guy on May 30th 1914. By September of that year, the company had moved into its plant at Fallings park and vehicle production had commenced. -
Guy Motors starts welding armoured cars
With World War 2 on the horizon, Guy Motors were given contracts by the government to build armoured cars. Traditionally these were held together with rivets, but by welding them together these vehicles were made much safer, potentially saving countless lives. -
The East Kent Guys
During World War 2, much of the fleet of buses on the south coast had been damaged due to enemy action. It was here that Guy Motors stepped into the breach, providing their "Arab" model buses to serve the East Kent Road Car Company. They officially went into service there in 1945 -
Fallings Park closes
By the 1960s, Guy Motors were starting to experience financial difficulties. However it was not until August 1982 that their Fallings Park Plant was shut with the loss of 740 jobs. Two months later, the factory was stripped clean and the contents auctioned, marking the end of over half a century of manufacturing.
