    The poisionings began with either the Marquis de Saint-Meron or his wife. She then accidently poisioned Barrois while attempting to poision Noirtier. She then failed to poision Valentine, and then "successfully" poisioned her, although she was not really dead, thanks to the Count of Monte Cristo. The poisionings ened with the poisioning of her son, for wom she wanted an inheritence, and herself.

    Caderousse, breaking into the Count of Monte Cristo's home, was confronted by the Abbe Busoni. Upon leaving the Count's house, Caderousse is stabbed by Benedetto. He soon dies, after learning of the Abbe Busoni's and the Count of Monte Cristo's real identity.

    Albert believes the Count of Monte Cristo is behind the revealment of his father's dishonor, so he challenges him to a duel. However, Mercedes interceded on both of their behalf. She revealed to Albert the wrong Fernand had done to the Count all those years ago, and she begged the Count not to kill him. Albert apoligized to the Count before the duel began.

Afterwards, Villefort realizes he has basically sentenced his wife to death, and he rushes home, only to find his wife and son dead. Villefort then goes mad.

    Danglars was captured by Luigi Vampa and his gang. Making him pay excessive amounts for his food, they took the last of his fortune, which amounted to five million francs. This was all done under the command of the Count of Monte Cristo, who then set Danglars free.

    The Count brings Maxmilien to the Isle of Monte Cristo to fulfill his obligationto help him commit suicide due to Valentine's death. However, Valentine was not dead and the Count gave them the isle while he lsailed off in the sunrise.
