    Captain Arthur Phillip

    Captain Arthur Phillip was 48 years old when he was appointed as the first NSW governor. He can speak four languages, English, German, French and Portuguese. Phillip made a colony which lead to become a global city. He resigned after going to England and getting poor health there. He sadly died at the age of 76

    Captain John Hunter

    Captain John Hunter was born on the 29th of August in 1737. He is the youngest of ten children. He was captain of the ship the H.M.S Sirius in the first fleet in 1788. Hunter named Newcastle in 1797. The Hunter Valleys and the Hunter River were named after him too

    Captain Phillip Gidley King

    Captain Phillip Gidley King was born on the 23rd of April 1758. He is is the youngest of 10 children. King established a colony on the Norfolk Islands. He helped develop livestock farming and mining, he also built many schools and he launched the first colony newspaper. King died at the age of 50

    Captain William Bligh

    William Bligh was born on September 9 1754. He was a British Royal Navy captain for the H.M.S Bounty. Bligh was imprisoned from 1808-1810 for being part of a mutiny called the "Rum Rebellion". The next year, he was appointed as an admiral. He died at the age of 63 in 1817.

    Colonel Lachlan Macquarie

    Lachlan Macquarie was born on the 31st of January in 1762.He had a leading role in the social and architectural development of Australia. Macquarie changed what was a penal colony to a free settlement land. Lachlan Macquarie gave tickets of leave to well behaved convicts and he tried to make a small town to teach Aboriginals how to farm and build houses. He died at the age of 62.
