    Impressment of sailors

  • Washington's Proclamation of Neutrality

    Washington's Proclamation of Neutrality stated that during the war between France and Britain, America would stay completely neutral and suggested that the citizens do the same and that if they do supply or help either one, they will be punished accordingly. https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Washington/05-12-02-0371
  • The Jay Treaty

    In Washington's Farewell Address he warned against political parties and that we should be closer to each other instead of other countries, that we should have a view of isolation.
  • Chesapeake-Leopard Affair

  • Embargo Act of 1807

    The Embargo Act of 1807 banned American trade to other countries. This resulted in citizens being very upset and losing their jobs.

  • Tecumseh (1)

    Tecumseh would side with the British Empire and would fight with them in multiple battles, like the Battle of Lake Eirre. He would die while fighting.
  • War of 1812 begins

    With all the events that happened, like the British boarding ships and could not make a trade agreement they would be lead to fight.
  • Tecumseh (2)

    After the Battle of Lake Erie, Tecumseh would have to defend Canada from an invasion by William Henry Harrison. During the battle, Tecumseh would die, and his body would be buried and hidden. No one knows who killed him, but Richard M. Johnson would claim he did.

  • Treaty of Ghent

    The Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812. Both sides would agree to peace.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Final Major battle of the War of 1812. It would be after the Treaty of Ghent since they were not aware that it was over at that point.
