    Battles VideoThis battle took place in the skies above Britain and it involved that German and Britsh air forces. After over a month of fighting Hitler called off the invasion. The British had won and most importantly stopped the German's from invading.
  • Battle for Moscow

    WW2 BattlesThe German's decided Moscow would be their target as they attacked the Solviet Union, The German's were able to push 18 miles outside of Moscow but the Russian defenses were able to hold them off. With this victory the Russian's were able to go on a counter-offensive and push the German's away from Moscow.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pacific War Pearl Harbor was a Japanese attack on the American Naval Base in Hawaii. They were attempting to destroy our Pacific Fleet. They were successful in destroying some ships and planes but none of our carriers were damaged and our Pacific Fleet was still a formidable foe to the strong Japanese Navy.
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    The Japanese were planning on siezeing the Midway Island as a way to solidfy their defenses. The capture of this island would've also provided a potential base for an invasion on Hawaii, Our codebreakers heard of the Japanese plans so we planned to ambush the Japanese forces, a plan that proved sucessfull and stopped Japanese expansion in the Pacific.
  • The Aleutians Campaign

    As a part of theMidway campaign, Japan sends a secondary fleet north to capture the Aleutian Islands which are part of Alaska. They successfully land on these island and the United States launches a campaign to rid them of the only American soil occupied by enemy troops in WW2. We were successful in our actions and expell all Japanese forces from these islands.
  • Battle of El Alamein

    This battle was the main battle in the North Africa campaign. The British were able to stop Rommel's German troops from advancing into Eygpt, which would've given them the Suez Canal and a free shot at the rich oil fields in the Middle East.
  • Battle for Guadalcanal Island

    Battle for Guadalcanal Island
    Both sides realized the Guadalcanal Island would be an excellent spot for an air base that was needed to advance in either countries case. It was a long, bloody six month battle untill the United States was able to take full controll of the island, which now gave us an airbase to retake the Phillipines from.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    This battle was another failed offensive by the German's. They again were advancing into Russia when this battle occured. Again the Russian troops were able to hold the Germans off and eventually sent them running back home in full retreat.
  • Battle of Kursk

    This battle was Germany's last hope in Russia. They knew retreating all the way back to Germany would show that they were weak so they planned an attack on Kursk, Russia. The German troops were worn out and short on supplies and again the Russia army held off the attack and went on the offensive, ending any German hope of conquering Russia.
  • Tarawa and Makin

    These were the first island Admiral Nimitz was planning to take in his island hopping campaign. He must take these island to advance to his next target, the Marshall islands. After many mistakes made by the US on their first amphibious landing they are able to take the islands from the Japanese and continue forward with the island hopping campaign.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    D-Day was when the Allied Troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France to begin an offensive on the German's. The attack was extremely successfull and now put Germany in a two front war.
  • Battle of Philippine Sea

    The renewed Japanese carrier fleet was looking for a fight and they got what they asked for. But what the Japanese didn't know was that the US had strengthened their defenses and was ready for whatever Japan had to offer. We were able to fend off the Japanese forces and send them sialing back home, this battle also marked the end of Japanese naval air power.
  • Batttle of Leyte Gulf

    Batttle of Leyte Gulf
    The Japanese had been in retreat for almost two years and decided that things needed to change so they launched their last naval offensive here. This was the largest naval battle of WW2 and possibly of all time. Again the United States came out victorious and after this battle the Japanese Navy was obsolete and really nothing the US had to worry about anymore.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    This was a major offensive launched by the German's on the Allied troops (mostly American) in the Ardennes Mountains of Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. In the first few days the German's had success but the Allied forces prevailed and pushed the German army back. This was the last offensive attack Germany attempted.
  • Iwo Jima

    After taking the Marianas Island the US began bombing the Japanese mainland, but one tiny island stood in the way because forces here were able to alert the mainland of an incoming bombing. We knew this island must be taken and all 20,000 Japanese forces would have to go down with it. The Japanese planned on losing the battle and all their men but they hoped all the American deaths were scare them away from an attack on the main island. The US did come out as victors but we were not ready to
  • Iwo Jima part 2

    Back down from the Japanese. Taking this island gave us a port to bomb them from and also an island we could launch a mainland attack on Japan from.
  • Okinawa

    This was the first American offensive on the Japanese homeland. The Japanese were prepared to fight the same way they did at Iwo Jima, meaning many lives lost on both sides. After almost 150,000 combined lives lost the US was able to take the island. The capture of Okinawa put us in a perfect place to attack the Japanese mainland. We were right where we wanted to be, but an attack on the mainland would assure hundreds of thousands soldiers lives lost in an invasion that could prove unsuccessful.
  • Battle for Berlin

    At this battle it was finally the Russian's turn to attack. They began turning the German capital into rubble and forced a German surrender, marking the end of World War 2 in Europe.
  • Little Boy Dropped on Hiroshima

    Little Boy Dropped on Hiroshima
    The United States decided to drop our atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The bomb was a success and whiped out most of the city. After this bomb we gave the Japanese time to surrender but of course they did not surrender.
  • Fat Man Dropped on Nagasaki

    Fat Man Dropped on Nagasaki
    After this bomb was dropped on Nagasaki the Japanese decided they had enough. They surrendered three days after we Fat Man was dropped. The American's had won the war in the Pacific without having to attack the mainland of Japan.
