    During world war one the Russian people were going through a famine and had almost no supplies for war at all. The corrupt Tsar was overthrown and a democratic party took over, this did not last however and a man named Lenin took over the country and created a form of government called communism.

    After WWII the world super powers met and talked about setting up democracy in the country's that needed help, Stalin however wanted to make them communist and all under Russian rule.

    The federal government thought that Hollywood had become corrupt and was putting out communist movies and so actors were brought to trial, and ten of the actors were blacklisted because they refused to answer the questions.

    Stalin wanted to force Germany into submission to communism, but he couldn't do that while west Germany was getting supplies which made them not want to be communist, so Stalin cut off supplies to Berlin, in retaliation the U.S. began sending in planes loaded with supplies Forcing Stalin to shoot them down if he wanted to stop them.

    President Truman signed an economic recovery act called the Marshall plan which was to aid Europe and help them fight against communism, a total of $13 billion was given.

    In order to stop the spread of communism, the U.S. sent troops to support the south Koreans against the north Koreans, the U.S. was able to push the north Koreans back past the 38 parallel but china pushed the U.S. back until there was a standstill at the parallel.

    Soviet ships bound for Cuba filled with missiles and soldiers and military hardware, tensions grew as the soviet union set up missile silos in Cuba, but Nikita realized what a nuclear war would mean so he pulled out of Cuba and removed the missile silos.
