    After World War II ended is where the Cold War began. World War II ended with the Soviet and the United States being friends, but what caused them to become enemies was a list of things; military, politics, and the ecomony.
  • The Truman Doctrine

    The Truman Doctrine
    The Truman Doctrine was a foreign policy created by president Harry S Truman. It was a plan to make sure any Soveit threats made to Greece and Turkey were contained.
  • The term "Cold War"

    The term first was seen in an essay written by George Orwell, but the person who ultimately said it was Bernard Baruch. It was a phrase to sybolize how cold the tension was between the United States and the Soviet Union.
  • The Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan
    The Marshall Plan was where the United States gave bilions of dollar in order to help rebuild places that were hurt by the War, mainly in Western Europe. The plan remained active for only four years until the Soviet refused to accept help.
  • NATO

    NATO stands for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which is an organization created for alliances to agreee that if they were to be attacked by an outside party that they would have back up from members within that party.
  • The Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw Pact was created in response to NATO being created, except this was a pact for the Soviet Union and its allies, including most of Central and Eastern Europe. In 1991 the Czechoslovak President decide to end the Warsaw Pact for good.
  • The Hungarian Revolution

    The Hungarian Revolution was an uprising from the people of Hungary against the Soviets imposed policies upon them. It resulted in the detah and imprisonment of many Hungarian people, therefore the Soviet government had won.
  • The Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall was a barrier the diveded East and West Berlin, the West side being anti-fascist and the East side being facsist. The wall was built so many who were on the west side couldnt get the resources they needed and were stopped from creating more people to revolut against the government.
  • The Cuban Misslie Crisis

    The Cuban Misslie Crisis
    The Cuban Missile Crisis lasted for 13 days which was caused because of a confrontation between the U.S and the Soviet involving the Soviets ballistics missile deployment in Cuba. It almost caused the world to be at nuclear war.
  • The invasion of Czechoslovakia

    In August of 1968 many parties from the Warsaw Pat decided to invade Czechoslovakia, this lead to many people leaving Czechoslovakia. This resulted in many people realizing they could not trust the Soviet Union or the Warsaw Pact.
  • The Nixon Doctrine

    President Nixon created the Nixon Doctrine to say that Asian allies will need to have their own military defense form now on as a result of the Vietnam War.
  • The Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War took place during the time of the Cold War, but in 1973 United States troops pulled out of the Vietnam War. Later on Nixon created the Doctrine, resulting in all ties with Vietnam being cut loose.
  • The invasion of Afghanistan

    In 1979 the Soviet Union decided to invade Afghanistan due to the fact that many of them were Muslim Afghans. This war lasted 9 years any over a million civilians were killed during the process. This ultimately resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union.
  • The election of Ronald Reagan

    Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United States, Reagan made a speech in Berlin in 1987 for the Berlin wall to finally once and for all be torn down. Some say that his speech had little effect on what actually happened but later on the wall finally disappeared.
  • The end of the Cold War

    The War ended with the destruction of the Berlin War. Ukraine and Russia finally declared independce and with that the Soviet Union had torn itself apart.
